I have bought a new system with hose reels from brodex and having a few probs, one of my problems is that on there new hose reels they have changed the screw thread on the spindel so a normal brass hozelock will not fit.

Now this is a problem has i use the gardiner ones that spin so they last for ever but they dont fit the thread so is there a way or connector i can get to make the thread bigger(if you know what i mean) brodex didnt even know they had changed thread has they kept sending my connectors with the old thrad size

And the ones they use are not very good to say the least(leaking has soon has i use)

You need a female to male thread adapter which a specialist firm might be able to supply.  The downside is you would have to know exactly what your two types of thread are.

I'm not familiar with what type of reels Brodex use.

The standard thread size you have been using is 3/4".  Obviously they have gone over the same size as Hozelock which is also not compatible.  If this is the case, the only possible solution is to get a tap and die set and cut a new male thread.  I would imagine this would be fairly hit and miss at getting it right though.

If the male thread is too small, try using a bit of that rubberised tape that plumbers use to fix leaky pipes.
Wrap it round the male thread keeping it taught, A new female thread will form as you tighten it up.
I have used this method for brushes that are a different thread to the screw in adapter.

Iv now sorted it, if you buy a hozelock connector from b and q it has a white plastic thread that can be un screwed, this fits on the spindle of the new brodex hose reels.

I would like to say be careful when buying the brodex hose reels the the male type hozelock connector that comes with them are cr@p and leak instantly i voiced mey concerns  and asked for a solution after spending £3500 and they send my only option was to return the hose reel??

Iv now found a solution so i can fit a gardiner swivel elbow which are great connectors and prevent you going through tons of connectors.
