Is pure water too good?
« on: April 01, 2009, 10:32:48 pm »
Keep getting customers commenting on how much longer their glass stays clean with the 'magic' water. Just had a letter from one custy who wants to go from five weeks to three months (that's going to bugger that road up when word gets round) maybe it's not all credit crunch?

Yep turn up after 4-5 weeks and most are gleaming, at first glance.

But look at the amount of dirt you wash off on the bottom sills.

Thank god for random bird poo, or they'd all be 8 weeklys.

I had that happen on a nice profitable monthly estate, now they are nearly all two monthly. I should have bumped the price of the first one up by 50%. If you let that one go you can't bump the price of any of the others up either.

Must be related to mine.

I had a letter a couple of weeks back this is a 4 - 5 weekly clean it rare i get round in 4 weeks.
And they just said i want my windows cleaned every 3 months from now on.

I don't have any 3 monthly cleans and i'm not starting that.

probably get a phone call in about 6 months asking where have i been

just tell em you dont do 2 monthly cleans or 3monthly cleans or whatever, get someone else to do em. i get it all the time, i just dont do 2 monthly or whenevers. if all your customers did that you'd have to double your work. most go oh ok then carry on!  ::)

Yes it is too good. When I started I used to clean every 2 weeks. Now most are every 4 weeks, and now some get them cleaned every 8.

Don't worry about it! Its good business because the customer is happy with the arrangement and it makes it almost impossible for someone else to undercut you.

Word gets round and you will get more customers to fill in the time. What it is saying is you are a better window cleaner.

Based on a weekly cost that is very true indeed.

I have had a few go 8 weekly but thats more down to money.

No-one has said to stagger the work but if they did I would say that rather than clean your windows, let them get dirty, then me clean them again - I say that with continual cleaning you can enjoy clean windows all year round.

If I was to stop the process would have to start again re: first cleans.

So really, they are better off? Rather than have 3 weeks of clean windows then 1 of dirty they have 4 weeks of clean windows.

They can look cleaner at first glance from the outside, but from the inside can be a different matter. The weather conditons at the start of the year helped to keep them cleaner aswell, but wait for a long hot spell of weather baking the dirt on and you shouldn't have to worry about longer intervals.
"from 5 weeks to 3 monthly intervals" would think that they have given you a "bum" excuse, perhaps they are short of money? who knows.

This is one of the reasons why using a squegee on the bottom is a good idea. I've noticed my upstairs windows stay cleaner longer than my downstairs as I trad the bottoms.

when i got my system i could not believe ionics marketing statement that windows don,t need cleaning as often, even if its true.Just imagine taking x years to build a round up and then cutting it in half for no reason. If anyone asks us to alter visits we always say sorry this is what we do.I leart years ago if you let one person change from say 2 to 4 weeks it spreads like wildfire until you re doing them all 4weekly.know someone will say just get more customers but there comes a time when you need to stop chasing work, been there done that and never again.cheers mick

same as colley, people tend to look out of kitchen, living room and patio doors the most so don,t want them to look too good for too long as costs me money,
