How can i get CRB checked as being self employed i can not do it myself

there is something the government bought out which meant you could get yourself checked the enemy told me about it when she gets home i will ask her and get back to you

Under the data protection act 1998, you can ask your local police force for a copy of any personel data they hold on you.

It costs £10 and they have 40 days tp provide these details.

You will need to contact staffordshire police and ask for form wc 162.

go to the crb website and look for a local umbrella body local to you. Contact them and ask if they will do a check on your behalf - costs about 30-60 quid for a enhanced check.

It should do, as they have to give all information that they hold on you, even the stuff when you have not been convicted or gone to court.

If this is no good for you then you will have to go limited company, and then your working status changes from self employed to paye employed

wouldn't make any difference you would still need to be a registered body aka umbrella body to apply for crb checks and have hundred of applications going through a year - not just a one or two..

A Registered Body is an organisation that is registered with the CRB.
 
These organisations are entitled to ask exempted questions under the Exceptions Order to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 Exceptions Order 1975 or will countersign applications on behalf of people or organisations who themselves are entitled to ask exempted questions.
 
The Registered Body’s role is to:

 

    * Check and validate the information provided by the applicant on the application form
    * Establish the true identity of the applicant, through the examination of a range of documents using guidance provided by the CRB
    * Ensure the application form is fully completed and the information it contains is accurate
    * Countersign applications to confirm that the organisation has an entitlement to access criminal record information
    * To comply with the CRB’s Code of Practice

 
Registered Bodies that provide access to the CRB service to other organisations are called Umbrella Bodies.  For example, a large organisation that has registered with the CRB to check out its own staff and/or volunteers may decide to offer access to CRB checks to smaller organisations.  Umbrella Bodies have the same responsibilities as Registered Bodies and must take reasonable steps to ensure that any organisation they are countersigning on behalf of also complies with the relevant responsibilities and obligations.
 
Umbrella Bodies play an important role in the success of the CRB as they provide the mechanism by which many smaller organisations will access CRB checks.

Remember the Soham Murders - Jessica & Holly
Who had enhanced CRB check -Oh yes Huntley the school caretaker.
He apparently had a conviction previously that would have prevented him
from taking up the post of caretaker - but as check was done prior to conviction
He was cleared.
You can get a check done and then go and commit criminal offences willy nilly
and you still have that piece of paper that says you are clear.

which is why you point out its only valid up to the time it was processed. So it need to be updated every year or less - and then you can provide one year after year - just like you keep your MOT's and provide them year after year when you go to sell you car.

But to prove to your potential customers you have never committed a crime for burglary (previous) i think its a better than not to have it.
