Hi - since 1984 ive always used the Collins Appointment A36 diary never fallen apart - pay slightly more at around £8

never used a diary . micro soft office 2007, planners
12 A4 sheets jan-dec , each sheet has dates from 01- end of month running down the left hand side , across the top : NAME    START--FINISH   X 4

then I use lead sheets, 2 types dom & com , this all fixes together on clip board , client can see jobs booked and relise you have bookings all month . helps get good price & CPs IMO   
pre printed jan -- dec in the filing cab sectioned off with all the pre booked jobs for each month
