did they just do the stairs or did they do any bedrooms as well?
£55 is about right for cleaning but not stain guard as well.

Protectors can be applied straight away after cleaning, did the operative gaurantee removal of all stains? if he did hes a foolish man, if ther are any remainong I would always point them out to the customer and also say that when carpet is dry let me know if your not happy .I would suggest customer speaks to cleaner and gives him opportunity to re clean. I would charge£90.00 for this job Cheers Simon

Seems much too cheap to me.Some protectors such as Prochems Fluoroseal can be applied on damp carpets but before applying it is best to rinse extract with an acidic rinse.Alkaline solutions can destroy protectors.

The stain guard should also be letf to cure ie dry with a good ventelated area, then brushed in :)

Thought some stain protectors actually reduced the drying time.

Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

Stain protectors are normally sprayed on to the clean carpet, after cleaning whilst damp so will always extend drying tiimes.
As Clinton says the protector needs to cure, takes upto 12 hours i believe, so ideally the room should be kept unused.
A carpet left in high in alkali will effect the protector sticking to it, so always acid rinse, on new carpets i was told to mist the carpet with an acidic rinse to help the protector stick.
