Okay then Matt, here goes. Let's see if it works (I bet not) but here are the before and after.

This first picture is what we inherited on the kitchen floor, and how it had remained for six months (because i'm a lazy **** sometimes, and I couldn't be bothered to clean it until it was absolutely necessary). The letting agents swore to me that this carpet had been professionally cleaned, and that there was no way it would come up any better, as their cleaner had tried everything possible.

Now here's the result after using Solutions no. 3 spotter and before I gave it an all over general clean with no. 2 when it really came up brilliant, except, er, for that whacking great indentation by the cooker. But I'm using that finished job pic as a publicity shot, so I'm keeping it a secret.  ;D

Right, I've modified the links. This board obviously doesn't like pics being linked to thumbnails. The guy who first showed us around when we moved in couldn't believe it when he saw the carpet on our departure inspection.

Oh, and as for chewing gum, I believe it's called no. 6 although I've not had a need to use it yet.

You're not looking hard enough Martin. Can't you see the second "image not available" box is so much cleaner than the first box?  ;D

What's going on? It was there when I last looked after I uploaded the message. I'll go back and see what's happened.

Mark,

You are right!  The second image does appear to be cleaner than the first, but.............................................Looking really carefully, there appears to be some colour bleed.  You obviously didn't do your tests!   ;D ;D :D :D

Regards.

I would be interested to know if there is a technique for taking before and after pics,

Is Mark Betts still around.

Do you close expsure one stop for before and open it one extra for after?

Or do you throw extra flash light on the carpet.

It's far more technical than that Ian, and if you don't know, then I'm not going to give away trade secrets.

Oh alright then. You, er, open the curtains for the 'after' shot. ;D

Thanx for that Mark ,

looks like they do a good enough job from the pics...i shall have to try some microsplitters and see if i can be converted ...results look fine but i have no idea on costs and time on the job compared to detergent cleaning.
I have to say if i'd cleaned with hwe and detergent i would expect to at least get the same result .
Be interested if anyone on this forum can explain how using detergent which advertises as "no sticky residue" causes resoilng, perhaps the manufacturers are telling porkies or there is another explanation staring me in the face ?

You would be surprised what I can do with original jpeg, crap at carpet cleaning only show the customer pictures then blindfold them, saying don’t remove for 24 hours!

Really? I knew the last page of that Prochem training manual was missing, but they just wouldn't believe me.
