OAP's hate WFP
« on: January 16, 2009, 04:03:56 pm »
I have thought for a while that old people in particular seem to object to WFP methods. Why I dont know, cos it drys spotless. I had one old lady ask me to do her fronts only from know on as her cat brings in mud from my water in the garden. Does she not let it out in the rain?
Also 2day I did 3 storey maisonettes, above 1 bed flats. So knowing it would spill down I knock and tell the 2 ladies what I am doing, as therye both looking out the window as Im setting up. One even says thats much better than ladders, much safer. So i carry on and the one who says its a good idea comes out all upset and moaning that she's just had her windows cleaned yesterday and what a bloody waste of time that was. I tell her its pure water and will dry without a trace (I hope as i dont rinse hers) I also offer to dry her windows. She declines, but clearly with the right hump showing all over her face tells me not to bother and she trusts what I say.
I speak to the bloke upstairs whoose place ive just cleans, fearing theres gonna be a fall out between these neighbours, and he just laughs and says she is loosing her marbles.
What can you do to please some people. It makes me think nothing, so sod em.

you cant teach old dogs new tricks..

wfp is new technology to them, they no nothing about it, and want it done the old way they have known pretty much all their lives, on a ladder with some rag.. aka, when you go its dry - smeary or not :P

I have a few oldies that seem ok with it, but thats cos they have got used to it now.. nice people and understand id rather not fall off their extension roof just to clean their windows when i can do them on the ground when a proven product that produces longer lasting cleans.

i do sum retirement flats, 2 storey, and there is 1 woman that pays the bill each time, and i explained the wfp to her and she was fine, then did it and she was fumin bcos of water about, most of the ground is grass under the windows so i dont see what her problem was. anyway, i have to do it on ladders now as she wont pay if i dont. i hate doing the job now as its perfect for wfp.

Monim, i would simply drop that one.

Oap's moan at everything, every blooming thing...

they think the world owes them a favour.

i like to think i was brought up with good manners, and taught to be polite...the old fashioned way, by my mother.

go into town, hold a few doors open for people behind me.... and its always always pensioners who walk straight through without a thank you....

and its the same pensioners who let the door slam in your face if you are behind them..

moaning whingers, thats not putting them down.

thats being totally honest.

"There's nothing new under the sun"

When I first started, I was working for a company doing all the Inner London Education Authority schools.  When we swapped from leather'n'scrim to squeegees, one old schoolkeeper took one look at the 'newfangled contraptions' and declared in a very loud voice: "That won't work!  You can't clean winders wiv sticks!!"

It isn't just the old either - I had one woman in her forties phone me during the cold spell to say not to come because her outside tap had frozen up and split the pipe in the cold. So could I come round in a couple of weeks as it would be fixed by then.  ::)

Another guy about the same age said to me today "would you mind drying the downstairs by hand (trad.) as they dry all streaky?"

I said I'd pop back in an hour and check how they'd dried as the purpose of the system is to obviate the need for wiping and squeegeeing.

I was sweating a bit because I've been using screenwash in the mix - but as I went back he met me half way across the lawn and said "err, I'm a bit embarrassed - I've checked it out and it's on the insides... "   ;D
It's a game of three halves!

Unfortunately this thing with flats is a problem. You can't blame the downstairs for having a go at you, I would do the same, wouldn't you?

By the time your "pure water" has run down the wall & splashed on her dirty sill it ain't gonna dry nowt like clean I'm afraid!
