yesterday had a  message left on my answerphone from dotgov supplies...........

offering me a chance to get local authority work.....for a fee of £99 per year......

for this £99 they have offered to send me everycarpet cleaning contract that is up for tender in my local area........
has anyone ever heard of this company.......is it worth it or is it another calender/charity cards type scam......
am i right in thinking that they would ask for all documentation ie insurance/risk assement/coshh sheets??

the man on the phone also said that all new authority work will be paid in 10days as oppossed to the normal 30days! :o

ideas anyone??
life is one big learning experience!!!!!!!

Don't waste your time. You may get something after a lot and I mean a lot of hard work but the return on effort would put you off.

Re paying in 10 days. yes there is some truth in this in that all gov and semi-gov departments etc are under strict instructions to pay promptly.

But that wouldn't normally be a reason to chase this type of work.

There are a number of these springing up as Local Authorities enter into tendering set ups rather than the old approved suppliers list.  the dot.gov and others are just an alert organisation and will bombard you with contracts from all over the UK.  They cannot assist you in  any way in aquiring any contract.

You can approach your local authority directly about tenders, or look in their web site where you will find loads of info on " how to ".............

If you wish to tender, they will require to know your companies financial status, ow many employees you have, your edherance to H&S, staff training, risk assessment documents, etc, etc.

But if you are confident with all of that......................you could aquire contracts for up to 4 years.

So..................you can find the contracts yourself, just by asking where to look for them.

good luck

just had this emailed to me.
.....
Hi

Welcome to a fantastic service aimed at businesses in the UK called iwantaquote.co.uk.

It's a simple concept.

When people search for 'carpet cleaning' in your area, they no longer have to search through directories and call up several companies for quotes or prices. They simply post details of their requirements on our website.

We then send you an email to let you know someone requires your service.

You email back with a quote, a standard price, company details or a link to your website and that goes straight to the customer.

It means customers don't have to search and you don’t ever have to miss out on a job again!

Simple.

The great news is it's only £10 for the whole year, there are no other fees at all, we don't take commission, you can quote for as many jobs as you want and it only takes a couple of minutes to set up.

What's more, if you sign up today you can register for as many categories as you want, absolutely free!

So click the link below, follow the simple instructions and you can respond to the new customers that are waiting for you today!

Click here to register. or visit www.iwantaquote.co.uk

We hope you enjoy your day.
The Iwantaquote Team
........

i don't quote over the phone so its not for me and i wouldn't recomend it to anyone, but thought i'd show it to you guys.

derek

Chris

Years ago the gov told local authorities to pay on 30days the one I did work for insisted they would pay me it took 60days.  :o  Also had to juggle figures to show that I was not making too much profit. :-X  It can be lucrative. :D
