hi all is it safe to leave a electric fan heater in back of van over night to stop everythink freezeing up thanks andy

You guys that use heaters overnight in vans... do you find the water freezes when you start work or is it ok?

Hi Jerry..

Just bought an electric greenhouse heater today from B&Q. will be using it from tomorrow for as long as this cold spell lasts.

Probably a silly question but I was wondering why you say keep it on a low heat as I was going to use it on It's highest temperature?

P.S is anyone using a gas or paraffin heater just wondering if their any good? thought they may be better than electric if the weather gets wet during the night!

Dont no one sell little heaters what can plug in the ciggerette lighter then when u get to the job everything would be defrosted just a thought  lol maybe ill patenet one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 ;D

Someone said earlier about the dangers of using "naked flame" heaters because they need oxygen to burn but if the van is closed all night then all the oxygen would get used up, causing the flame to go out....

Plus they stink!!

I thought that would be the case. Just wondering if anybody on here has been using a fuel heater in their van to prevent freezing with any success.

Ive got a oil heater, i had to use them electric ones once when my heating went in house, cost a fortune on electric i used about £30 electric in 4 days,

What type of oil heater are you using in your van, have you had any problems with freezing since you started using it. Also have you had any problems with the wick going out during the night or fumes and soot in the van in the morning?

use a aquarium heater rather than a fan heater , advantage you will have warm water for use the next morning , the heat that comes off the water during the night will prevent your hoses & pumps freezeing up .

parrafin heaters=MEGA CONDENSATION

I like using a fan heater set a bit above frost setting, it circulates the air nicely and i've never had a problem since I started using one

They don't have a frost setting ............. it's either on or off

Even on frost setting???
