hey guys, i have been reading a lot of the posts on this site and time and time again i keep seeing reference to these microsplitters.  as i am new in business could someone please tell me what they are and ecactly what they do, are there advantages and disadvantages to them..............................many thanks for being patient with me.......Ian

Microsplitters are food grade phosphate agents in a cleaning product. It works be causing a shattering effect to the soil binders. This is what adheres soils to fibres and fabrics alike. It uses a technology without the need for detergents and enzymes and bleaches. Although most mainstream c/c agents dont contain bleac anyhow.
In my opinion MS's are better suited to cotton/flatweave upholstery fabrics, although adjitation is required. One has to make up ones mind wether its in the best interest for the fabric concerned , to cause a severe scrubbing action to it in order to achive the desired cleaning effect without using the detergent properties of conventional cleaning products or use conventional cleaning products and rinse with either clear water or clear water combined with an acid rinse. Its purely a matter of personal choice. Though it does seem that on the aforementioned fabrics , MS's do seem to simplifiy cleaning. But on carpet work they don't come close enough to my companys needs in the matter of visible results.

Glynn there is a difference between controlled agitation and scrubbing, the best agitation is completed using the chickopee very soft brushes as on the envirodri machine, normally if the carpet is over wet during pre sparying this will have an adverse effect on the cleaning, as after the soil particle bond is shattered to much fliud will wash the soil deeper into the carpet, therefore you should always work toward the drier side of cleaning.

Never used Number 2 heavy duty then?? I love this stuff, It has produced results for me that are nothing short of incredible

I know Its high ph makes it non wool safe, but I was faced with a well soiled Light green 80/20 last week, spills, inground soiling, soot lines from real fire around rugged area, etc, so opted for HD number 2 and plenty of sebo duo aggitation, then the fresh water rinse. The customers when they returned were amazed and thought it looked like new

No porkies now, but what dilution did you use to achieve the results. I believe No2 HD is the same as the former No8 Stone cleaner.

The Dilution I usually work at with MS is 12-1 ish, Not sure if HD is the same as the stone cleaner?? Nick would be the man to answer that.

Recently started using the solutions range, the HD No2 for synthetic is OUTSTANDING, have done a couple of carpet salvage cleans with clients saying stuff like: "Wow it's like new"!  I do find though that the process is far more effective if repeated once or even twice on heavy soiling.

I wasnt suggesting thjat you would tell porkies, its just that I think some guys exagerate with dilution rates. When I use microsplitters I find the best rate is 10:1 , but I have seen some claim 20:1 and higher, which I find is too weak for the result I am looking for. I use both Solutions and 1 Step Fineline.

I see I Intend to try leaner ratios myself, I imagine 20-1 will need more agitation to get the same result, cleaning pie and all that.

Micro-splitters if used correctly will match and outclean any other chemical within the market today.  I have not yet come across a carpet or fabric that SOLUTIONS micro-splitters have not been able to clean to a very high standard.  No matter wheather it is a lightly soiled sofa or a club carpet covered in bar tar so thick you can write your name in it just pick up the apropiate SOLUTION from SOLUTIONS UK and you will be able to offer your customer the very highest standard possible.
