hi there.
personally, it's a little busy for me, with the animations and the weather/ google maps links.
but as i say thats just personal. I don't think those things will loose you any customers if they look at the site.
shame about the guy with the wfp on the home page, but I think that's a problem most of us have with our pics ;D :P :P

Hi S2N good looking web site, some observations, your contact details like phone number and mobile would be better on the front page as not everyone will go looking for it. Your logo is good but it looks a bit home made when you place it over the pictures, maybe you would consider putting a banner at the top with you logo and the pictures underneath or on an other page.

I dont really think the cartoon man in the window adds to your professionalism but that is probably just a personal thing

By the way it is much better than I would have done if I built my own so my comments are not ment as criticism.

You'll be hard pressed to find a picture on a home spun website that doesn't have an ugly mush on it :P

the thing is that you put yourself into all the other parts of your business and i feel there is something satisfying about doing your own website and putting a bit of yourself into it.
so, keep banging away at it till you're happy.

I'd see your main problem to be search engine optimisation. Regardless of if the page looks good or bad,.. it'll do you no good if no one can find it.
You need to fix your meta tags. Include keywords such as the services you provide, your company name, your name, and the names of towns and villages where you work.

Also a lot of your site seems very slow to load. I'm sure some of your graphics could be optimised & compressed to fix this problem.

I would personally remove links to any w/c forum, it gives your customers a chance to come on and read what all w/c  have to say about each other and about customers.
And if you don't have there system mind they don't come after you telling you to remove the Reach & Wash words, there pretty hot on it.

Apart from that its looking good   ;)

Hi Dave,

Welcome to the world of website building, good fun isn't it!

The golden rule is keep it simple and to the point.

Don't get distracted by unnecessary flashy graphics, it only slows the website and search engines will penalise you for it.

Pay attention to your Meta Tags these are very important the top 2 being description and keywords. Always separate keywords with a comma and make sure your description isn't too long.

A keyword or key phrase is what would be used by a user to find you, so it's a good idea to put yourself in their shoes and ask yourself how would you find your business. The obvious would be a user might Google "window cleaner west midlands"

Search engine ranking can be enhanced by the exchanging of links with businesses similar to yours but only if they put a link to you on their site. If they don't it's a waste of time you are just advertising them.

If you search on Google using the key phrase "window cleaner west midlands" or whatever you decide would be the major search term for your site, have a look and see who comes up on the first page and try and exchange links with the highest ranking sites let's say the top 10.

Just a few thoughts will add more if I think of anything, have to go now my tea is ready.
All the best

Steve

Just another thing Dave when you submit your site to search engines do not use an automated program that's submits to a large number at a time.

Do it manually!

In my experience just submit your site to Google, it can take up to 8 weeks for them to index your site, and all other engines will pick you up from the Google results anyway.
All the best

You look real uncomfortable and awkward with the pole over the conservatory. Looks like you are struggling to clean that window.

Take another foto with you at ease  ;)

Why oh Why did he spell my name as bod & not bob on my wedding invites.

Here's one I'm building at the moment (Still under construction)

www.johnthewindowcleaner.com

Look at the page source and notice the meta tags,... they really do make a big difference with Google ranking!

Sign up for the google webmaster tools (its free) and after a few weeks you'll get vital info about what the google-bot sees when it looks at your site.
