Keep receipts for everything, smile when you chap the door to ask for business, remember there are no patches that belong to someone else, don't go looking to undercut someone- charge what  you think it's worth,

niall

oh, and if you're up a ladder, don't step back to check your work

Can anyone give any tips on how to run a smooth, stress free business? Or any tips to make the running of a business a bit easier?

dump your tv and get out in the evenings.

When you have sufficient work, free yourself from the customers who try to be overly  controlling about when and how you may clean their windows, the ones that you find persistently irritating, the ones who try to haggle the price, and the ones who you sense will bump you for the money (you get a nose for this stuff after a few years though you will never get it right every time).
I know it may sound like there won't be many customers left after such filtering but that is not the case.  However, it can take a few years of regular pruning to get a round like the above.
