protector will go hard if wet cleaned???
« on: December 11, 2008, 08:34:56 pm »
had a call from a custy, got a suite that needs cleaning, 1 year old, been protected, she's rang the company who protected it and they said it should not be wet cleaned as the protector will go hard. its called fabricoat, or fabracoat. are they pulling her plonker so she has to use there in house cleaner or have any of you guys come across it, i'm going to look at it tomorrow, so i'll know if its wet cleanable from the fabric, but protector going hard after cleaning seems a bit stupid to me, the lady even said shes wiped it with a wet cloth and the kids have spilt drinks on it and its not gone hard.
i'd like to go tomorrow and tell her there yanking her chain but don't want egg on my face if its true. pretty sure i'll clean the protector off anyway.
anyway, let us know if any of u guys have had similar tales or if its true ish.

Knackers she must have called the sales desk, I bet they want to sell her the redo or a new one!

Clean it and apply it, that's it!

Yeah you just need to check it's not viscose velour Derek. Wet and rub the swatch or back of a cushion and dry with a hairdryer if it feel all rough and crusty you will need a more careful approach.

If its a valour it must be as old as God's dog, you can tell them from a mile away they look like dralon at a quick glance but on closer inspection the pile is longer.
Then the fun starts when cleaning they look like a wet dog and when dry like a pork-u-pine, Safest way i have found is not to have your water to HOT! and when finishing each piece towel off in the pile direction. They dry a lot lighter but do take longer than normal, as for reprotecting go easey try not to over wet as this can lead to colour run!

no hint mike, its just a lot of money for a clean. happened last week only the other way round, bloke was happy, wifes face dropped, he said yes and booked and the next day he cancelled, "we know who wears the trousers in your house" i said, " anything ofr an easy life" was his reply. "just wait till the new cc does a crap job, you'll get blamed for that as well mate, good luck",  "i know he said, can't live with em, can't live without em".
i was gonna say, "you can live without em, molly maid, take outs and internet porn" ;D

Here's wot I do.

If both are there make sure you figure out who wears the trousers and get them on board, it;s not always the one who's doing the talking. When you ask questions see if they glance at the other person before answering. Engage both in conversation.

Selling to the wrong person is a waste of time and effort. But we all get caught out every once in a while.

The main thing is to get any objections out on the table, you can't resolve them when you have left.

Your right there Dave, they were right numptys to clean !. I used to do loads of them.
I found using the north east method was best, Dave knows what that is.

I used to use the north east method Glynn .

North straight out the door then a sharp east and away :P
