New windows fitted - black dust on carpet
« on: December 05, 2008, 06:16:03 pm »
Got a call from a double glazing company today, they say they fitted some new windows for a customer and while removing the old frame in the lounge some black dust had fallen onto the dust sheets but was so fine its penetrated and got onto the carpet.

The mangager gave me the impression she was trying to get a new carpet out of them.

I assume the black dust is similar to what you get when drilling into a wall, what would be the best product to use on this?

Thanks

Paul

If its an older property then that black dust is the same thing that causes draught marks. It is a build up of soot and polution which has penetrated the gaps in the window frames. If you can imagine in the olden days when everyone had coal fires and on a winters night the air would be thick with smoke.
Ultrapac should shift it. Be aware that sometimes it is impossible to remove 100% if they have messed with it.

Dry compound - micro sponges, agitate in with Enviro dry and vacuum off, I would think twice
before introducing water to this kind of stain. We dealt with black carbon from a cartridge in an office
this way recently...easy.

Loads of vac and spray Ultrapak renovate then you could either apply sponges (host) or bonnet to get transfer then HWE and definately post bonnet to avoid wicking.
