« on: November 24, 2008, 06:40:41 pm »
Ive noticed a lot of posts about losing custys etc but every W/C ive spoke to around my way havent lost any, Me included (touch wood), and also a friend of mine who is commercial only said he is still snowed under and turning work down as cant physicaly do it his bank manager even rung him up to see how business was, Im still steadily picking up work got 2 today, is it that its not quite got down here yet, im not saying it wont hit my business but i havent seen it just yet so i was wondering how its affecting  the lads near to me, NWH, Prestige, Shiner, Steve-uk, CLEANGLASSUK, Macc, etc

It has had a small effect on me but very little really.  Lot several jobs and a couple of reduced frequencies.  This has been balanced by new work coming in though.  Normally, the new work is more than lost work.  I feel that it would only take a bit of canvassing to stimulate new interest though.  The other effect is that I have held off on price increases even though some jobs could do with them.  Also, I have noticed more slow payers - particularly on commercial work.

Ive been turning work away recently. Have picked up lots recently. Probably in the last 6 weeks about £250.00 regular and £600.00 in gutters.

However, reading posts like Dai's etc makes me think a little longer and harder about how things might be panning out. The only thing thats happened to me is an estate agent whos office I do has asked me to do them fortnightly instead of weekly.

So far all is well but will it stay that way? Im sure most of us will survive, we might have to accomodate a little and be flexible, but eventually those with drive and ambition are likely to come out of it fairly unscathed.

The few i've lost were expected & no suprise. So far they were replaced straight away & picked up extra. All in all i'm up. IMO if your price is sensible it wont be too bad.
