What kind of budget do you have to work with?
Would your round be reachable with a long hose from the van, or would a trolley setup suit your work better?
Do you know your tap water TDS?

couple of questions pride

1 - are you going to use a van mount or trailer or trolley/backpack?

2 - what region are you in (this will give us an idea of what your tap tds will be.

3 - have you got room for a storage tank?

Hi Pride,

You will get lots of advice on here; there are lots of experienced cleaners.

You can use the search option at the top (enter a word) to find out about things you are not certain about.

Many on the forum may ask you questions so they can better give you advice, this may very well change your thinking on things. Really weigh up what you are told, as it can make thing so much easier for you.

One thing I would say about your comment;

“am going to be van mounted in a citreon berlingo or peugeot partner"

If you have yet to acquire a van,  Try to get a bigger van as being able to carry more water will be a major concern as you get established.

Like many with small vans, if I could start again, I would have got a bigger van.
This is an issue you will see discussed on here quite a lot.

All the best
Martin

Citreon Dispatch is very popular and IMO plenty big enough for one man, just make sure you get van with higher payload. On older dipatch is 900kg, on new models goes upto 1200. On berlingo type van max payload is 800kg which depending on other factors would give you max 500l water carrying capacity.

Depending where you are various suppliers will give you a free demo or you could visit, also look at their website for ideas of layouts.

www.waterfed-pole-system.co.uk is worth looking at if only for ideas.

Also having a black/coloured tank instead of a clear one would prevent growth of algae/mould in tank through exposure to light.

My preference is static purification system in garage but you do need mains water and drainage supply.

I know others will disagree but -

I would advise spending extra money on my ro - gapswater 4040 kit with either HF4 or HF5 membrane £572

I would go for at least a 500lr system with hose reels fitted into the van meaning a berlingo is too small - expert is perfect.

I would definitely upgrade to twin pump/varistream so I could take someone else on eventually or should my pump break down I'm not stuck.

Buy the very best pole you can afford, carbon if you can.

Beg steal or borrow to finance it - if you aren't prepared to then going into business ain't for you.

you need to check your home tap tds first
buy a tds meter around £15
they are sold on fleabay
as well as all good water fed pole suppliers.
Once you know your tds you will get good advice
as to which route to take
i.e. R/O or DI only

If you go for an RO set up it is very useful to know your water pressure as this affects the performance of the RO and if low you may need a booster pump.
