Dropping your prices?
« on: October 15, 2008, 10:28:42 pm »
Come on then how many of you who about 6 months ago said you were putting prices up because of the rise in petrol/diesil, are now in the process of dropping your prices.
Well fairs fair with petrol now down to 99.9p/L

i for one, dare not put up my prices , not in this economic climate, they are more likely to drop you,....

i think some could be looking for an excuse, and  that could push over the line.

i know its easy to say we should put them up, but i think like anything else, it has to have its right time.

Ah, but inflation peaked at 5.2% so I'll hang on a while longer yet! ;D

I have set a rule to review each account individually after 12 months has past from there last price review or being added to my books. I have a couple that I have risen, and should get feedback from them tommorow.

Although, prices of petrol has fallen, its still ot anywhere near what it was and I doubt it will ever be. Gas suppliers have raised there prices as much as 30% and the generally public cant do much about it as they have just about all followed suit or soon will. This as well as the effect the economic down turn has had on everything else, only the stong business will survive and those who lower there income by dropping prices will struggle in these harsh times, finding they are only working longer and harder for the same money as before, and may find they are one of the many who drop out as they have failed to produce a profitable and worth while business. I would rather spend the extra hours canvacing for good customers at a fair price than drop them and have to work too much for too little.

Why?? Because some on here used the excuse to their customers that such high fuel meant they had tp put their prices up.
Now they've dropped so much are they going to re-dress the prices, therefore justifying their reson for the initial increase.

Would love to find that price round here add over 10p on top min for diesal, I have to admit I did up the prices on some of the work, and used this as the excuse, will I be dropping them I do not think so as they needed to go up, the added diesal cost just meant we had to work extra hour a week ish to cover it, mt prices are not inline with fuel costs I am not barking mad

I have not put my prices up for 2 years, and when the price of fuel went up i stood the loss. Maybe that is why my phone is red hot with new clients this last 3 weeks, good job FAIR price.

p.s no i'm not a busy fool! i just work longer than 4hrs a day ;D

Wish I only worked 4 hours a day, I personally think a day should be 48 hours  ;)

Petrol prices down, insurance prices up, no change for me... expect petrol (or diesel) to increase soon anyway.

Same with Road Tax, Servicing bills, Consumables.. the list goes on.

Because fuel is still way more expensive than when most prices went up.

Even at 117.9 instead of 130.9 it's a rip off.

Last time I did a general increase was year before last, and it was about 95p then.

I normally increase my prices in January if I'm going to, but I've no plans to increase them next January, I'm doing fine and gaining customers as opposed to losing them and I'd like to keep it that way!!
Come and talk dirty to us!!!

same here. gonna wait till the media stop whipping people into a frenzy, there is a credit crisis, but why tell everyone, keep em buying and maybe things would work out quicker, instead of making everyone go so tight fisted!! when its there borrowing that frigged everything up in the 1st place, funny how the world works eh? :)

Its not the borrowing thats caused it, its the lack of repayments on the borrowing thats the problem  ;D

I wouldn't give a reason like that to increase my price; customers aren't daft.  I increase mine (in general) once-every-two-years, by letter - I don't make excuses - and no-one complains (much) and during my last price increase (early this year) I only lost one customer who was a grumpy-auld-git anyway.
