Looseing customers by the bucket load.
« on: October 13, 2008, 04:15:11 pm »
Don't know if anyone else has had the same thing recently but it seems like the economy is finally getting to my customers.
Went out today and did 4 offices all okay in fact one had a new car so safe there. Then onto 3 houses to loose 2, nobody says it because of money but when the husband is around in the middle of the day it's a bad sign. One of them assures us that it's not us doing a bad job but still can't bring himself to say he's out of work.
I'm now starting to think that oap's are the best custy's to have when the mrs does a block of 4 flats all at a fiver each and all oaps to be told that one of them has got a pole thing and will be cleaning them from now on.

So at the end of the day I'm 6 custys down totaling 38.50. Not high prices but all together a bit of a sting.

Simon.

I'm starting to like the OAP's too.
Before they were a bit of hassle, and low priced,.. now they're the only ones that pay cash, and sometimes even pay for their neighbours too.

I haven't lost any custies yet,.. but the SAE's are getting later and later arriving,.. I've an absolute fortune outstanding at the mo.

I lost one today as i was using WFP she didn't like it saying it was damaging her wooden sills so i have been doing downstairs by hand for the last 6 months.

Today go there o i won't need you any more i have found a ladder window cleaner.

I use ladders also but not this house due to sloping roofs.

But the other window cleaner is a new chap starting quite a few of my customers have told me he has been knocking.
So he is welcome to her.

We've been experiencing the same thing on this side of the pond. My service area however  is a University town and has a big university hospital and clinics as well. That adds up to a self generating economy for me. They just keep building new subdivisions and nobody seems to notice any slow down. Other guys over here however are beggining to feel a little nip.

Not lost any yet, but not gained any either (waiting for my new flyers to arrive to go canvassing)

Even got paid finally an £50 outstanding, i was about to write it off! One of my customers has now gone to every 3 weeks rather than every 4.

My missus is getting a new PT job, to help pay the bills, she worried that i might lose customers. Just have to see how things pan out.

i dont think the recession is as made up as you think, the banking disaster is the worst thing to hit this country financially since ww2, the ripples from it in everyday life are just starting....

Getting a lot of people comtemplating stopping over winter. I think once this spell of good weather has gone and the clocks change, things are going to get alot worse, especially with xmas round the corner.

Got a phone call today to quote for one of the biggest houses in the village  ;) ;)

I don't think it will be £50 though !!

I had a £40er switch from 6 to 12 weekly today but in the past few days have picked up some £10 -= £12ers which more than balances it up.  I don't normally do 12 weeklies for jobs under £50 and I was tempted to offer the less frequent service at the higher price.  However, the price is a decent one so I decided to swallow on it.  Maybe £40 will be my new bottom line for 12 weeklies (until someone else decides they don't want it done so often).  This could yet be a good business move if I get the others in the complex through it.

Seem to be keeping the £10ers ok, but bigger ones seem to be pushing for longer intervals. I suppose lashing out £40 every 2 months hurts these days.
