Condition says more about you ............. i have seen brand new scruffy scratched vans that would put me off the tradesman.

Smart well signed van tells people that you take pride in your companies appearance so may take the extra care for them

no, considering if you book on the phone they don't even see your van until you  turn up to do the job and if you do in-home quotes you either go in your car or the potential customer just opens the door and let you in, not bothering to look at your van.

perhaps if they see your van parked in Tescos and remember its a skip on wheels it might put them off when they are looking through the Y/Ps  and see your name

personally i think image goes a long way, i turn up to quote in my van and make sure they see it. not saying its the B all and end all but if youve got it it helps.
and certainly doesn't hurt to flaunt it.

My van is nearly ten years old and is still imaculate and have always looked after it.

Must say i usualy do quotations in my car if am not on route to do work

Most people never see the van, they see the person, so even if you take a Ninja from an estate care, it won't make any difference. It's what you do that matters and what it costs.

All of our 5 vans are silver, signwritten, clean and currently all under 4 years old, it does get us noticed and gets positive comments.  Same as our staff are all uniformed.

If you have booked a job, your van won't make any difference.

But if it's really manky it may put off a customer using you again even if you do a good job.

You also will find it difficult to quantify how much business you lose by people seeing your van buzzing around and thinking er NO THANKS!

My van is 8 years old but is in good condition. Nicely signwritten and kept as clean as possible.
I get plenty of work from people seeing my van. If it was a dirty bomb then people would be reluctent to phone. I think it is madness of anyone not to have their van sighwritten. My van only cost me £80 to do. Best advertising money spent by far.
I clean my van as often as i can, doesnt matter about age but condition of van.

I have clean smart vans , and all 3 cost me 4k in total, I refuse to buy newer as I have had too many employees abuse them , so I put the money into nice cars for me.  When I first started with CD  I was so ashamed at my Areg Nissan Micra , I used to park it round the corner, ironically, I now park the Range rover  round the corner on many occasions  for similar ,opposing reasons.

I dont think the age of a van will make any difference to the amount of work that your business will get. My van is 7 years old i bought it new. I am wanting a new one as i have too much gear now and have out grown this one.
I am looking at eather a VW or a Renault Traffic.
There is loads for sale at the moment, will be looking to get one for a snip in December with a bit of luck.

No but i bet you will read the van if its pulled up outside someone's house, even if your interested or not, its how we are.. inquisitive! It might be what your after.

Blank van, nothing to read.. no possible leads.

I change my van every 4 years for tax reasons and appearance and also reliability sods law states that the older the van the bigger chance it has of letting you down, I'm sure some smart arse is going to say that they've had a van for 100 years and because they have had it regularly serviced it has never ever ever let them down but the truth is newer items have far less chance of breaking.

Also I have a TM in my van and if the van doesn't work neither do I.

Mark I just got 3 year old Vivaro , same thing different name , be aware that on all 3 Nissan,Vauxhall
Renault there is a 50/50 chance of a gear box fault !! normally happens 70-80k .

   new gear box 2K ish Re-con £650 ish  , unless you know ur onions take a tec or a mech to really see if there is any probbs, other than that they are ace vans-look the part plenty room etc
