Your best, most reliable and easiest source of income is good, regular "maintenance clean" jobs.

One-offs, builders cleans and so one are extremely hard work, fine if you want to work twice as hard as necessary, but if you want a good regular income for the minimum effort then your efforts should be to build a full round of regular work.  If you have time for lots of "one-offs" etc, then you haven't got enough regular work.  What happens when the "one-offs" dry up?

When I quote, part of my "unique selling point" is that we DON'T charge any more for first cleans, regardless of how long they take.  I make it very clear that the agreement is we are happy to invest the extra time and effort but we expect the customer to have their windows cleaned regularly in the future.  Of course this doesn't stop the odd cheat from agreeing to this, then cancelling before the next visit, but they are very few, and they wouldn't have been good customers anyway.

We have full books of regular work, which means we know every week how much we are going to earn and how long it's going to take us.  Except for extreme weather, we don't have "short weeks" or gaps of unproductive time - all our working time is spent earning maximum income from minimum effort.

I like that Ian, that was exactly my viewpoint when trad, I just though with wfp things change. Maybe I should keep my point of view.

Thanks for your comment, it's much appreciated. :)

maybe charge 50% more on really bad ones as been said but basically agree with ian lancaster.

unfortunately when your not full up you have to roll with the punches and i've had my fingers burnt many times.

you seem to devolop a sixth sense for messer's,
and if i was wary of a custy, then hit with a big price.

i did 2 new ones friday £25 each next door to one another 1 half hour's each but i will shave 30-40% off the time next go.

you could do new custy's on a saturday.
i.e earn your money in the week, & your not under so much pressure to get them done quicker.
I use a freedom trolley and put a drizzle of gg3 in barrel do whole house frames only, then go back to start glass only; stay of frames.
cheers lee

i also dont do one - offs ,
i find that i can get a high % of one off requests to have them done 4 / 8 weekly ,
i am very strict on this , and it seems to work for me .
i dont earn less , as i get some extra regular customers .
i dont charge extra for 1st cleans , as its obviously quicker on all subsequent cleans .
( of course occaisionally it happens and they cancel after 1st clean , but not enough to risk pushing my luck with  all other new customers )

Agree with all of that especially what you said about 1 off`s,unless your gagging for the work who in there right mind would do them.
