I have a five year old Ducato MWB van and would not recomend one to anybody. All parts are main dealer only, and cost more because of this. Ive heard the new fords are the best around.

The Fiat vans are unbeatable for price (imo) but having test driven both the Scudo and Ducato I preferred the Scudo and bought one. The Ducato is larger but the Scudo is available in long wheel base. Good luck

I thought they were basicly a Fiat and therefore have little or no residual value and will probably rot away.

I have had them all from Midi, SherpaTransit, Cant beat a VW transporter never let me down at all.

I think the days of Fiat rust buckets have long gone - so long as you dont abuse the paintwork , but thats the same with any vehicle.
I think Mark made the initial enquiry about the Ducato as he serious about going truck mount and so not only needs some space but also gross and axle loadings.
Fiat, Citroen and Peugeot are sharing technology/costs both with the Scudo/Dispatch, Expert and Ducato/Relay/Boxer ranges. Same as Nissan/Renault/Vauxhall with the Primastar/Traffic/Vivaro range.

The Fiat Ducato, Citroen Relay and Peugot Boxer are basically the same van. They're all built together in the same factory. The Citroen and Peugot have a reputation of having the better engines than Fiat's own which are primarily used in their own badged versions. But someone suggested to me recently that the new, swb Ducato has a Ford engine. Check first.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Hi Guys

I've hasd one 3.5 years now, no probs .

I know they are not great for holding price but they are cheap and if you keep for 6 years , what is any van worth.

Cheers

I had a VW before last van and it was a lovely van but I'd say that my Fiat drives as well, as for resale after 4 years I lost £10000 on it the same amount as my Ford Transit (last van) and the breaks and clutches were nearly double the price, the reliability in my case was the same for each van.

Let's see what happens with the Fiat but if I lose £10000 in 4 years then I only paid with the vat and extras (tax and road fund license, bulk head and ply line) £11050.

I have a 04 peugeot boxer 350 lwb medium hightop and other than a clutch and front shocks have had nothing major go wrong with it 60000 miles now. Not a spot of rust on it apart from on the roof were it drags along the tree branches down our cornish lanes :-\ Also never seen a rusty one either. my local garage actually recommended them to me as they don't rust! My engine the 2.2 hdi is very powerful and when the van was empty couldn't use 1st gear to pull away in as it would just wheel spin.
