Just wondering if any of you know the answer to this:

What is the maximum payload of the older model (pre 06) Dispatch/Expert/Scudo? I know there is an 815kg and 900kg version, I couldn't remember if they had made a bigger payload version.

I had an 815kg but if you look on the chassis plate it gives you max gross weight(vehicle + load) and unladen weight (vehicle only)...
Take one away from the other and you get your gross payload which on the 815kg is in fact 1000 kg.  Not a lot of people know that

I'm not sure what the 900kg version would be, but that is the biggest.

Depends which engine it's got 2l hdi is the 900kg version whereas the 1.9 turbo is the lesser one.

So in other words if I were to take the vehicle to a weighbridge the payload allowance would be higher than the advertised figure. This fits in with something else I had heard about one of them having a 1200kg payload (this was before the new version was released).

To add to the confusion my handbook lists the following payloads:

2 litre 16v - 815kg
1.9 litre Deisel - 815kg
2 litre turbo hdi 95hp - 815/900
2 litre turbo hdi 110 hp - 900kg
2 litre turbo hdi  16v -  815kg

Not sure exactly what the last 2 figures mean

But the first two:  Take the top one (unladen vehicle weight)  away from the next one (gross laden weight)  then you have your payload.

In your case:
3630kg minus 2330kg = 1300kg = max payload (inc. fuel and driver (chubby))

Vast difference between the handbook load weights seems odd? Maybe the handbook figures are for the load in the back only and exclude the driver and passengers.

Here we go - my van 2l hdi turbo 110 bhp:

payload - 900kg
Kerb weight - 1480
Gross vehicle weight - 2330kg
Gross train weight - 3630kg
Unbraked trailer - 740kg
Braked trailer - 1300kg

Now I'm more confused than before!!

What I have learned is that the 110 hp has the biggest payload. (makes sense really)

if you are unsure which engine you have they are coded within the vin number -  the highest payload 2l 110bhp has RHZB as it's code. I'm also pretty sure that the Fiat version has a slightly higher payload. God knows why.

I have a Scudo 2.0 JTD and that has the biggest payload which is 900kg. So i would say that the 2.0 HDI would be the same.

The new one with the 1200kg payload is great, but is 14.5k plus vat. My 04 was 7k plus, thats a big difference.

The new one with the 1200kg payload is great, but is 14.5k plus vat. My 04 was 7k plus, thats a big difference.

I'm thinking two man, two reels and a custom made flat 600litre tank (which I think 900kg will give me).

I have designed a flat tank that has a sloped internal base, so that the water will always be at the outlet whatever angle the vehicle is parked at.

 I cannot warrant a new vehicle for the limited use it will get.

A sloped internal base is clever. Now that you've said it i can see this becoming a standard feature.

 Discount, you must have the 900 payload then. Top figure looks like Gross kerbweight then Gross Train weight (van and trailer?)
The bottom two i'm unsure of.

would be interested to have a price on that tank Alex, as I am wanting new van in next week or so, and this could open a few more options for me.
