Anyone taken one out? Did you hack it to bits or do a proper job removing seats etc? This is the floor in the cab i'm talking about here - mines close to floating with all the water that's trapped underneath it - i might try to remove it tomorrow in between the odd tornado and monsoon.

your options are removing the seats and doing it the correct way

of get a stanly knife out and rip it out, paint it with protectacoat, only downside is when you want to sell the van it doesnt look so good, but if they are really bothered they could get a covering from a van thats being broken

Drill a hole through the floor to allow the water to drain away and the seal it up with a nut and bolt !
It's much simpler and cheaper!.
In my car years ago I had a leak somewhere and all the water seeped in to the well where the spare wheel was kept in the boot.  Constant problem until I drilled a hole and put a grommet in - problem solved never to return again.

Started hacking it out today - have to be careful because there is a wiring loom running underneath. The floor has a thick foam backing underneath almost an inch thick near the bulkhead in the footwells. Mine was absolutely saturated sodden through. I can't see any way it could dry out naturally which is why mine's coming out. If you intend keeping your van then it might be worth investigating.

I peeled mine back and squeezed what i could out then ran the van with the heater on.

Bit noisy now! Got most of it out going to need a trip to Halfords to get a torx key to fit the seat bolts to get the rest out. Think i'll protectacote it then lay some rubber matting on top when i get time. Next time i flood it i can then mop up easily.

Let us know these tricks Matt, I used my daughters van for the first time today and noticed the noise from the tires, I also noticed on the tire walls that it said low noise, I'd like to try and reduce the road noise inside her van if possible.

right, here goes

you can buy dyna-mat its a specialist car sound-proofing material, its pricey but works well, its 20 quid a 800mm X 500mm slab

now here is the cost saving way

get to your local DIY supplier and buy a roll of "flashband" , screwfix call it flashing tape ( quick code 72438 ), its just the same and cuts down panel vibration ( side panels ) and road noise ( esp over the wheel arch )  a great amount, its only about 10 quid a roll

give it a try, it really does work

Interesting, thanks for that Matt, There's also an industrial unit down the road from me that has lots of matting stacked in their carpark, they have stuff like judo mats. I have been known to rummage through their skip before when i needed foam to fit out a kayak. I might have a look around later and see what they've got. Also found mats on ebay that they use for horse boxes. Like the idea of Matts mats though.
