Have you not noticed that there`s rounds of shops up for grabs on different forums and Ebay this is the reason,i would say it`s an understatment to say that to buy a round of shops at the moment is a gamble, this is when all the WC`s that didn`t put all there eggs in 1 basket are counting there chickens so to speak lol.

What makes me think there isnt a credit crunch is Ive never been so busy; and Ive been at it over 10 years now.

Some may say there is a credit crunch, some may write that there is a credit crunch, some may broadcast there is a credit crunch.

My experience is there isnt one, if there is a credit crunch its hiding from me.

Went WFP 7 months ago and still can barely keep up (I cant actually) with the work coming in.
God knows how I'd be if I was still on a ladder.

i think its all been hyped up to much, media and such.

things really arent "that" bad in my opinion, things have just gone up as they always do...and so have our prices...

There`s shops closing all over the place in some sectors it`s not hyped but in others it is.

This credit crunch is effecting all business but one of the first things people cut back on is having their windows cleaned,

most of the small business's family butchers bakers etc have been dissapearing over the past few years, i believe because of the superstores opening up you can get most of what you need in tescos and asda these days.  Even these stores are competing against each other more fiercly than ever

Why are people giving it a new name to gloss over the truth?

Credit crunch? That means sod all. ::)

It's a recession surely?

Yes squeaks, a recession is a slow down in economic activity, but this time with the credit crunch it is quite specific, the stock market hasn't been affected too much, nor unemployment, nor even factory gate output, but property prices and everything that affects along with the construction industry and everything that effects has.

So estate agents, biulders, plant hire, etc are all going bust. Large projects such as shopping centre extensions or town centre renewals can't go ahead because they can't be financed.

This has never happened before in this way, and the speed with which it has taken affect (globally) is frightening.

IMO the opposite,  with good reason, you just think you'll be the first thing to go because you think you'll be binned.

The first to go isnt the 1% cost from the monthly budget (window cleaning) its the high end costs that go, holidays, cars, conservatory perhaps, hot-spa; but people are staying where they are and not moving house, they may even choose to look after that house  instead of buying a bigger one. I know a small local builder who reckons he's busy becasue people arent moving, theyre just putting up extensions instead. The signs arent all negative by any means.

Change your psyche, theres work out there going begging.

Many service businesses may not be experiencing a loss of business or a reduction in turnover, but the longer the liquidity problems in the banking sector continue the more pockets of the ordinary man on the street will begin to tighten.

The real question should not be "is it real"? but what should we be doing to insulate our businesses from recession.

In my case I am trying to develop additional income streams making sure that my business doesn't rely solely on domestic, shop front or commercial but a mixture and by seperating my gutter cleaning into a business of its own and adding carpet cleaning and other services.

I am also increasing my advertising and begining to offer incentives to my one off customers if the re use any of our services with in 8 weeks.

I hope that the result of these efforts will be a bigger business, but I'd settle for remaining in business if it really begins to filter down to us.
