How do you guys take important phone calls when working

-you cant take a call when wfp
-my missus cant take a call because the kids make to much noise-
-cant afford to employ a receptionist at the mo

Im thinking about getting a 2nd phone line and an answer phone service, does anyone know a good one?

i lost a new customer due to a missed call who just happenned to live behind me, they called my home phone but not my mobile,and ended up calling my mate who lived 20 mins away , it was worth £100 window & soffitts , hence i dont want to miss any more calls

You can get all calls diverted to a business which deals in missed calls by promising to answer all calls on your behalf.

I got a letter the other day from a company that take calls for you think they where called ruby, they ansewer the phone how ever you ask them too and take messages.

Calls are diverted from my home phone to my mobile by bt. This costs £1.74 a month. plus the cost of a call from my phone to my mobile for the cumalitive duration of any calls.

or does that 5 mins for the call eat into profits

i answer my phone whilst  wfp if important switch my flow tap off and walk back to van to get quote book out

I just have all calls routed to mobile. Have a wired hands free connected to phone. Phone  has radio, so listen to radio 2 all day and when someone calls,  phone rings 3 times and automatically answers and also cuts radio off for duration of call. You just talk to them whilst working etc.

Matt ,by the time i put the pole down ,take my gloves off see who it is, ive normally missed the call.
i havent got george on pda yet so cant make any appoinments , i dont carry pens and note pad either.

Get yourself another mobile for business calls
or
Have calls diverted and have a different ring tone for these calls so you can identify the call before you answer it.
or
Look in the Exchange & mart under office services for an answering service.

thought about that AJ, but its the landline number that im missing the calls, at the mo i have all my mates on one ring tone and all other call on another

I have an earpeice with an inline microphone for my mobile which allows me to talk and work at the same time

Don't you ever read the replies to your query? Do you know what call divert means?

you can get a 'virtual office' for about £45 per month + call charges.
that includes
a nice office building address
your own phone number
someone answering in your company name and 'just put you through sir' to your mobile (which has a seperate ringtone for that number of course)
if you don't answer, they'll take a message.

i have tried call divert and yes i know what that means, i think it sounds more professional from an office rather trying to talk to someone outside as theres always background noise on the most important calls

AJ , Thats sounds good and not to expensive, the answer phone ive been looking at is about £30 pm for 30 messages,i'll look into that !
