anchor point - ratchet straps

im not one of these "thats not safe" guys but i like things done right you know

when taking the vivaro apart to paint it, i took the achor point screws out, and couldnt beleive how short they were, like an inch, no way would i ratchet a tank down to them with them

just my 2pence worth

To be absolutley honest i don`t think they were designed to hold down 3/4 of a ton really.

Before deciding to use factory supplied anchor points, it would be worth asking the manufacturer what they are rated to.  Some van makes have very sturdy structurally mounted points and others, as you've found out, do not.

Im shocked too ...you just think they would be strong enough!!!...... but 1/2 a tonne of water is something else!

Im shocked too ...you just think they would be strong enough!!!...... but 1/2 a tonne of water is something else!

1/2 tonne times 50(g) or so in an accident.

apparntly something like a 650 creates 64 tonnes of force at 40mph crash

now thats what i call a good job, taking screws out to paint the floor! i bodged mine and painted right over them!!
