I have successfully mananged to import a users details from George into WCP which is good news. However, there are some issues:

1) You will have to manually 'merge' customers as I have no way of knowing which addresses belong to 1 single customer and also no idea which tasks belong to which customers. This will only affect invoicing. It will not affect the scheduling.

2) There is no job history as this is not avialble from George. This obviously means there are no accounts. I have had to add a negative payment onto users accounts so that the debts are correct and a future date for the next due date.

3) Since you can't get rounds from George, I have had to make up Round names (Round 1, Round 2 etc... which I have grouped based on the date the the job is due. Once the data is in WCP you can organise as you wish.

I know this is not ideal but since this is the only data available from George this is the best I can acheive.

I have only tested with one users data that was sent to me, would anyone else be willing to export Customers, Debts and Expenses from George so that I can test my import utility further? Drop me an email ian@windowcleanerpro.com.

Thanks

Ian

Hi Luke,

Yes all updates for version 2 will be free. I am constantly adding new features and you will get these automatically once I publish them.

Did we get a cost on this program  ;D

Given that when importing data from George some items will remain as seperate entities i.e gutter clean as a one off and entered into George as a single item...can you manually ammend an address but with a date say in 2006?

Cheers
Dave.

Ian, I have another question ( please dont be offended by this one!!! ). When many companies even the big ones bring out patches for current software it can cause bugs and problems and need an entire new version from scratch altogether eventually, do you think this will be the case or will the patches ( "updates" ) not cause these problems? thanks, Luke

Dave, Im not sure that I understand your question? Can you explain a little further for me? What do you mean by setting address to 2006? If you want to send me an email with your number and I can give you a call.

Thanks

Hi Luke,

I understand where your coming from which is why I have created the auto updating feature and system error reports. If there is an error in WCP then a window will pop up and it enables you to send me the error details so that I can reproduce and fix. The auto updating feature means that I can get updates to users very quickly. You should not have to wait too long if any issue do arise.

Hope this answers your question.

Luke,

My version of a handheld works on Windows Mobile PDA rather than a Palm. You will see why when you see the screen shots!!

The most important thing is to get the website up and running so that you can see some of the features but most importantly download the software. I don't think I will get the online ordering system up and running tomorrow but will be able to accept orders over the phone or via email if needed.

sorry , this may have been asked before , but would it be a good idea to sell this software already installed on a PDA ?  If you had enough orders maybe you could sell  the unit a bit cheaper ?      Ok I will get my coat  ;D

For some reason my auto notifications had stopped working...I have worked very hard on the interface both on the main software and PDA.

I hope you like it

Dean.

You will be able to download it today...I am trying my hardest to get everything in place as we speak.

As for purchasing I am not going to put the online order page up tonight but if people do wish to buy it then they can always phone/email me and I will sort it out.
