You could try tightening it up another half a turn to see if that works. If not, you need to make sure that you have wrapped the nylon thread on your tank elbow with PTFE tape (plumber's tape).  Screw it in so that it is fairly tight.  The nylon nut will tend to strip before the thread does.  The reason they say not to over tighten is so you don't twist the brass fitting out of it's water tank seating.

I'd be interested in how to solve leaky tank fittings..  Mine has been tightened too far I think, When I tightened it, it 'slipped' one thread.  It certainly doesn't feel tight though, and seeps a little water on occasion.

It's plastic fitting in plastic thread on tank, so not brill.

I've tried using loads of PTFE tape, but perhaps not enough?

I was wondering if anyone has tried gluing the fitting in place?  Any disadvantages to doing so?

Try solvent cement - if it works it will "weld" the fitting to the tank.

As Squeaky said, you're b******d if you want to undo it, but you could always cut it off and cement another one on.

The best way is to screw in the fitting and then go round the edge with silocone, this will stop any leaks at all i`ve done it myself and it solved the problem.
