rollers on rear door
« on: August 23, 2008, 02:13:30 pm »
mr h found these great rollers

does anyone use rollers and how do you get on with them? i have a vivaro and have yet to use it properly yet, do you think rollers on the end of the back doors inline will help or hinder?

i could see it being annoying if you were to pull it the other way and then the door shutting, would this happen?

Redashe is the place to get hosestoppers for your your hose to protect your ez-snap connections as well. I have them fitted on my hosereel and they'll last for years unlike the lighter version supplied by a popular website amongst the fans on this site. :)

You have to look at the data sheet to find out which size suits your needs. They are are solid rubber. Very hardwearing and will definitely last for years. Saves damaging the EZ snap connectors so works out good value for money in the long run.

hi
ive installed one of the small square rollers in the rear qtr of my trafic a good year ago, its the best thing ive done for speed as now i just have the pole on the roof rack, my hose reel is floor mounted sideways facing the roller.

i just pull up and walk off with the pole and start work come back reel in and on to the next one there are no problem jobs i cant reach as ive a 100m hose.

also i can leave the van locked

a word of advice though the nuts and bolts were not that long so id find longer ones
i would also pay attention to the bottom roller by making sure that the unit is tightened fully, i found that the bar which the roller is mounted on tended to push out of line and stop the roller spinning hence ive worn a few notches in mine.

apart from that little niggle i highly recommend doing it

I'm really impressed by the pictures and what people have had to say. I though Dave was asking a question that had been answered and LWC had started a pointless thread.

This is a good example of when someone like me thinks they know it all, and then because of the forum have their opinions changed.

Can I ask Jefftemperley: I would be interested in using one of these square rollers in my side door, would my mini bore an tap fit through it?

Because I wouldn't lke to drive around or park up with it hanging out.

you will have no problem getting hose thru. but the tap i doubt would.
my set up has a tap at the brush and my slx has a short tail that way i only have my quick release fittings that need go through the rollers.

i keep mine connected when driving between jobs as it holds the back of pole down that way i only fix the front with a bungay cord..... again speed setting up and packing away between jobs being the idea.
as for going thru the side door i guess would be no problem but i personaly prefer it being fitted in the rear left qtr. that way i can get an almost 180 degree angle when pulling out the hose and can still access all the doors without it being in the way, when i need other equipment

hope that helps

What's a rear left qtr? Have you cut a hole in the van panel? Any pics? (so many questions - sorry)

Got it, thanks very much, now i understand. Good solution for van security. I have a hole in my floor that does a similar job but would be improved with one of those. (i could cover it up easier when selling the van on too.) Hope you don't mind i've posted a pic of yours.

Nah,.. if it makes the job easier,..JUST DO IT!

You'd prob sell the van with the WFP kit still in anyway, so it'd actually add value!
