Have you ever been on a cleaning job ,where your hose doesnt quite reach to  clean an area.Get some 40mm plastic waste pipe, whatever length you need and just fit it between hose lengths. You can also cut it and use it as a very cheap hose connector, only a couple of quid .I hope this is useful.

and leave it with a high ph, with sticky residues to soil quickly. personally i'd do it properly or not at all, but thats just me, i'm sure some people will find it useful.

I wish id never even suggested this little emergency fix.The presprays and solutions I use apparently dont dry as sticky residues, but crystaline. If you really wont to neutralize, spray on some acid rinse ,then extract.

Personally what I'd do if I couldn't reach the last couple of feet of carpet is empty all the waste and fresh water out of my machine, unplug it, hump it up the stairs, plug it back in, fill up the fresh tank, let it heat up and then clean that last few feet of carpet.

I might be lying :D

I'd pre-spray as normal with m-power and then use my minitex to bonnet it, it's going to be the far end of an upstairs room so why does it need extracting anyway?

Ive heard a lot of this guff about sticky residues when rinsing with detergents i always rinse with formula90 and never once left a sticky residue in a carpet in the four years ive been cleaning.I have loads and loads of repeat customers and never once had a compaint about resoiling. Also clean my own carpets and never had a problem with them either.

Not cutting corners at all derek, merely cleaning them with a lighter system :)

In all fairness to Stevie everyone, let's not jump on his back too hard for sharing what might have been a little fix that got him out of the poop one day!  If you think about it, a lot of cleaners may simply have found their hose didn't reach and just not bothered to do anything about it :)

Good tip... Here ae few more..

Don't buy expensive 'ribbed' condoms, just buy an ordinary one and slip a handful of frozen peas inside it before you put it on.

Minor skin grafts can be performed on pigs by covering any cuts and grazes with thin strips of bacon.

Save money on expensive personalised car number plates by simply changing your name to match your existing plate. - Mr. KVL 741Y

Don't waste money buying expensive binoculars. Simply stand closer to the object you wish to view.

Save time when crossing a one-way street by only looking in the direction of oncoming traffic

Thicken up runny low-fat yoghurt by stirring in a spoonful of lard.

Smokers. Save on matches and lighters, by simply lighting your next fAg from the butt of your last one.

Vegetarians coming to dinner? Simply serve them a nice bit of steak or veal. Since they`re always going on about how tofu, Quorn, meat substitute etc `tastes exactly like the real thing`, they won`t know any difference.

SAVE electricity by turning off all the lights in your house and walking around wearing a miner's hat.

AVOID parking tickets by leaving your windscreen wipers turned to 'fast wipe' whenever you leave your car parked illegally.

OLD telephone directories make ideal personal address books. Simply cross out the names and address of people you don't know.

SAVE petrol by pushing your car to your destination. Invariably passers-by will think you've broken down and help.

AVOID being wheel-clamped by jacking your car up, removing the wheels and locking them safely in the boot until you return.

EXPENSIVE hair gels are a con. Marmalade is a much cheaper alternative, but beware of bees in the summer.

one more.

PEOPLE whose surname is Toblerone should always take along an empty 'Toblerone' chocolate box when attending interviews for office jobs. This would save your potential employer the expense of having to make a name plaque for your desk, and therefore increase your chances of getting the job.

Those time saving tips will free up two more hours a week to cut my lawn, which I never seem to get on top of. I think I may have to buy a bigger pair of scissors.
