just a bit more advice if poss
« on: August 15, 2008, 11:08:39 pm »
hi
thinking about starting a round, one or two house a day to fit in with my current job (once learnt then will take the full time plunge)
left post other day about doing it old fashion way with ladders
for the love of god cannot decide on what to do
you guys mentioned this wfp system

1  is it really worth it if my round is only part time
2  if you recommend ladders what length  (will only be doing ground and first floor to start)
3  if you recommend wfp which system
i have a van already but like the sound of the trolleys
i also realise i need to get insurance and declare my earnings which i shall do  ??? ??? ???
i wanna work
i wanna be a millionare
i wanna clean windows

start the traditional way..
you won,t need a van, use yr current vechile just add a roof rack for ladders
ladders you will need 11 foot double extension ladders...try getting them from a window cleaning shop and I,d recemend safety spikes for the bottom of the ladders and a pair of rubber mitts for the tops.
you can get public liability insurance from most brokers costs are under aprox £90.00 for£500k

Traditional isn,t old fashioned I,d say most w/c  work from ladders....were are you based someone on here will probabley give you a bit of work experience to get you going if you ask

finally all the best with yr venture!!

It’s the right advice if he never intends to use ladders.

But I would like to hear the correct answer from someone with 25 years experience. So how do you clean 1st floor and above without ladders and wfp?

 ;D ;D ;D
Jet pack  ;D

A trad pole would be a good start

Hi,

I have just got someone going, trad all down, and a backpack for all tops.
you must be able to find someone with pure water, if not make it yourself,
£400-£500 will get you going with no ladders!

Dont waste your time with a backpack, they are good for spraying weeds but not window cleaning

I’m sorry Dave, but I have to disagree with you there, While I agree it’s not the best method out their, it’s certainly the best way to start on a tight budget. You can then progress with something better as more money comes in, and the backpack will still be useful for the inaccessible house.
