What brush do you think is the best for WFP
« on: August 14, 2008, 07:21:41 pm »
As the topic says.

What brush do you think is the best for wfp and why ?

For me we use vikan mono and have not had a problem, I did try a bently and for me they are better suited to cleaning hair off a hairdresser floor because I think that about as good as they could do.

Your comments guys or what and why.

Ian

For weight to cleaning results ratio you won`t beat Tucker,i have 3 of em 2x12" 1x9".The only fault with them is they jump a bit on leads but this can be overcome slightly by adjusting the goosneck, the best thing to do with lead work is to keep a single trim 1 just for leads they glide over the glass better. For thin leaded windows and especially plate glass you will never beat them, they have loads and loads and loads of bristles and beleive it or not i like a lot of bristles in my brushes, there cheap to at 60 notes a brush lol. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I've never used anything else, and have no desire to spend more money on anything else.

Never had a problem with them.

Groundfloor work Vikan 11" oval with 2mm pencils

Both very good brushes

Lost a fair few customers though, and i`ll wager money that when you lost customers at the start this brush had something to do with it and will continue to,they just don`t clean well enough.

Yes I like the Salmon, bit heavy mind, especially with the auto-brush kit bolted on, but good brush. Solid, like it. Trimmed the bristles down on mine to create a stiffer bristle, even better now.

Thinking of trimming out a Vikan see how that goes, more to lose the bristle thickness, I think theyre too thickly bristled, anyone else trimmed out a Vikan, if so how is it now?

I have the 9" version of this you can`t get this brush anymore with the same bristle,it`s the best brush i`ve ever owned the results with it are faultless.

I have started using a SL single and double trim...but my previous usage has been Vikan flagged oval and mono rectangle not had any problems with these...just that they are heavy....

Time will tell...

Just thinking about this....do you think that we over complicate the use & style of brushes we use?

I mean for the most part we use the brushes for maintanance cleans...and for the most part the windows are not heavily soiled.

It's just that we all seem to get into certain 'frenzies' every now and again...be it brushes, poles, carbon fibre....blah, blah.

What do you think?

Dave.

Trimmed down Tucker for most work.
Gardiner dual trim super lite for: sash & definitely maintenance cleaned leaded windows.
The above brushes are my two top choices using both cold or hot wfp

Most important of all is a decent swivel fitted to all brushes as it too saves so much time & effort reaching awkward windows. I wouldn't work with any brush without a swivel fitted
