Free Listings?
« on: August 14, 2008, 05:23:19 pm »
Got my advert on a few now, Yell.com, Touch Local and a couple of others. They all offer much the same - you put your advert on then very quickly you get a call trying to prise some money out of you for an enhanced advert. Touch Local even tried to guarantee i'd have 200 enquirees in a year or they give me half my money back. All sounds dodgy to me.  :-\ Anyone else get a bit of pressure?

I had a row with a lady from Scoot first thing this morning, I missed the original call so phoned back. The conversation went something like...

her: oh we just need to confirm that the details you submitted on the website for your business were right but Gareth is dealing with your account, is it ok if I have him call you back?

me: no it's ok, everything's as I said it was.

her: we can't list your details until Gareth has gone through your details with you. shall i get him to call you back?

me: no it's ok. look, if you're trying to sell me something i'm not interested

her: so why did you submit your details to us then?

end of phone call.

way too early in the morning for this

I have a free listing with Yell.com.... it works wonders, get a lot of work from it.  Had it for about 2 years and they've only rang me to try and "upgrade" it twice.

I get the occasional call off companies trying to sell me stuff, but for the amount of work its brought in I'm really not complaining...

Ive got free listings with most of them and as far as I know havent had no work from them either, but you never know. I have had a few sales calls but as long as your firm and stand your ground they back off.
