Do you mean doing the frame and the glass and not going back to do the glass again after the frame has stopped dripping?

If you do this is how I usually work. You just have to make sure the frame is really clean then rinse very well then do the glass and rinse very well again. There is no need to go back and do the glass again. Its all about rinsing. Use a higher flow on first cleans  ;)

If you mean cleaning the window as you would a maintenance clean with "one pass" over the frame and glass then move on - the answer is no - first cleans require more work  ;)

IMO you need to do a VERY thorough job first clean for two reasons:
easier for yourself in future,(main reason)
customer so impressed, they recommend you, plus also often give you a tip for extra effort.

The reason i ask is because another cleaner couldn't understand why i clean twice on a first clean - frames and glass - then glass only.

I used to do frame and glass then back for glass only but if you do a good job and rinse well it makes no difference. First cleans always take 2-3 times longer than a maintenance clean to do a good job  ;)

I actually find it faster to clean twice, than to do such a thorough job that I get good results 1st pass,... even with hot water,...

Thats interesting Nat.

I have found it sure is quicker with hot but as I have had the hot system such a short time Its hard to judge how much quicker as yet on average.

Maybe I will try the two pass method again  :)

I don't spend much extra time on first cleans,.. turn the flow up high and give all the windows & frames a good scrub as fast as is reasonably possible,.. then go back and do a normal clean on just the glass. It defo doesn't take double the time of a standard clean with hot water though,.. prob only about 50% extra.

same here.
I do spend longer on 1st cleans though and go back and check results before getting the cash. On 1st cleans only.
I find the 1st clean the most important because that will dicate how quick i can fly round in future.

The custys always watch first time as well

Yes i find this as well. Another reason why i don't mind spending longer on it.

Yes us www.mgwc.org have the ethic.

On the website it mentions UK & Ireland......
UK includes Ireland. (England, Wales, Scotland & Ireland)
GB doesn't include Ireland. (England, Wales & Scotland)
Ireland is the difference between UK & GB just out of interest. :)

I don't think that the uk includes southern Ireland though.

I find going around twice faster as well.  When you only go around once you spend a lot longer rinsing to be sure.  With twice you can be more confident.  I will normally do 1 side of a house at a time though twice, save messing about with hoses.

For me it's frames done well....quick scrub of the glass and then go back to start and do the glass again...it works for me and the single pass has got me into trouble before....I'll stick with what works for me.

Cheers
Dave.

i find i can only do it in one go when there is no vent above the frame,

i did some yesterday, they where filthy, spent about 3mins per window and they came up spotless in just one clean

Sounds to me like you do a good job, so I really would not listen to this person, no way you can clean any new clean on one pass as you yourself know.
first pass wakes the dirt up  ::)

I think he was pulling your chain
