advice on buying my first wfp system
« on: August 10, 2008, 10:14:37 pm »
hi i think i am ready to take the plunge and buy my first wfp system,to fit in my renault extra van, i will roughly be averaging about 15 houses a day ( 3 bed in the forest of dean).
BUT WHICH ONE AND WHERE FROM ??? ??? my budget is limited so i only have about £800 to spend.
I have been looking at different websites and it's a mine field,i found that pure-freedom have a 250 litre system on ebay for £699 item number 260270963480 and i thought this was the one for me.However tonight all keen and ready to hit the buy it now button i came across cleaningspot2008 item number 270264085245 also £699 the thing that caught my eye was this system comes with 100 metres of hose  not 50 like the pure-freedom one, can you think of anything else i would need apart from a battery? so am i missing something or is this just a better deal? or do you know where i can find a better offer?
thanks very much and keep up the good work. ;D

Where are you  based? Water quality will dictate what kind of purification equipment you will need,.. and that will impact severly on your budget.

If you only have £800, I'd recommend DIY all the way, as every peney will be needed!

Have you got a garage or shed that you can fit a tank in.

You've got a 625 KG payload,.. so a 300 litre tank would be reasonable,.. 400 litres would be pushing the limits especially if you have a passenger.

You're in a medium water hardness area,... but the exact reading can change from one street to the next. Give your local window cleaning supplier a call and order a handheld TDS meter. If your reading is over 70 or 80 ppm then you'd be better off getting a reverse osmosis filtration system. below that a DI only setup will work.

If you have space in your garage/shed/garden you can try rainwater harvesting. My rainwater normally reads 30 - 40 ppm off a cement tile roof.

ive got a purefreedom system and really happy with it, but im thinking about getting a statin instead to free up space in van and carry less weight,
Give Andrew McCann a ring h www.exelsystems.co.uk
Hes the man i dealt with when i got into window cleaning as he use to work for purefreedom, he will only tell you to get the things you really need so then you dont waste money on pointless stuff,

good luck

DIY is always the cheapest option. Here is a link to a complete list of parts needed for a system:

I found that proper DIY isn't that cheap  if you want to go the full way with Tank cages etc. It's amazing how much the little bits and pieces add up to. I would definitely just go for a Purefreedom or excel systems setup, it will be hassle free and the best price you are going to get.

yeah but how much work do you have?

why does that matter Alex? i bought a system and a van years ago. Diy and transit for under 2k. didn't have any work. canvassed for a week got £126. cleaned it then added another £100ish or so, cleaned that the next week, and so on... with in 2 months i had over £1000 within 6 months i had £3000. I don't see the relevance of knowing how much work the guy has in him ordering a WFP set up.

why does it matter?

because far too often people get carried away with what things look like and how great it is, oooo

i would much rather have my money in my pocket that someone else and build up to it, you wouldn't do it in any other business so why do it with window cleaning

expand when your business can afford to, not when you want to because everyone else is.

and besides about 90% of the work we clean with wfp can be done off ladders, it just isnt as fast, but when your starting up it doesn't really matter because you don't have full days worth of work

how much work does he have ?
i will roughly be averaging about 15 houses a day ( 3 bed in the forest of dean).
probably about 15 houses a day

doesn't mean that he has the work, just shows what he thinks he will average per day with his new system

But how can the poor bo' do any work unless he has the gear first?  LOL

As for other businesses, sorry but yes you would.  You'd get the stuff you needed first of course lol.

i think i must be missing something here, didn't the guy say he had £800? does that sound like he is over spending on flash gear he don't need?? I'm confused!!! :-\
