Builder cleans advice...
« on: August 04, 2008, 08:00:53 pm »
I have read a number of posts on this forum about builder cleans, I am assuming that this is work carried out after a builder has been in the property.

A couple of questions....

how do you price the work, what is the best canvass method, what are the pitfalls (anything to immediately avoid), is it best to have an agreement with the builder or householder, are there any materials that are essential?

thank you for any responses.

The second most important thing next to price is make sure you get stage payments, especially the way the building trade is at the moment.I used to do these trad 3 handed and always billed them after a weeks work, you have to do them trad anyway and there hard graft the hardest work in WC.I would walk round the site with the foreman etc and ask him exactly what he expects of you, experience will tell you what sort of result he will have to expect due to the state of the windows.

pretty much what nwh says
site agent is the bloke who will tell you whats expected
we used to do window glass and frame, internal and external
ALL exterior plastic
ie gutters,fascia,soffit,cladding,storm porches,drainpipes,meter boxes,wall vents etc.
however given the state of the building trade at the moment i would avoid like the plague
bare in mind you will probably be waiting 90 days for payment
and you will be bottom of list if all goes breasts up
