NO of all things it was T-CUT that got all the builders grime off and water marks
we have been doing this house from new build and it has always been an arse
with water marks lime scale all kinds and never looked any good until today we
turned up and thought that at last they had got new windows ...but no it was
the HANDYMAN that came round and polished them with T-CUT and wow we thought
that they were new

On some windows with lead flashing right above them they say if you paint the lead flashing with patination oil (think I've spelt it right), it will stop the run marks onto the glass. It doesn't, all it does is slows it down, but it still comes back just as bad after a short period of time.

Hey Wayne polish the problem lead with T_cut see if that helps

Problem windows with lime scale runs, I prefer to use hot wfp and soak the glass and come back to it and scrub a second time. I don't fancy getting a ladder off, climbing it and putting on some MDR with a cloth, washing it off, putting my ladder away , then WFP, takes too long and too much hassle. Rather just wash the glass twice as I'm lazy

Problem with T-cut is, that it actually removes a layer of the material that your using it on, just like on the paint of your car.

What's more of concern, that with a car you need to seal in the shine, and reapply wax every now and then, otherwise the paint will go dull again, because you've removed the last bit of top protective lacquer .

With a window, if there is any protective layer on the glass, you've essentially removed it,  and in the long run, might actually damage the windows far more then lime scale could ever do.

Not so with MDR, it just removes the limescale, and nothing else.

I would be very wary with using something like T-cut on anything else then your cars old paint.

I've been going to try (but havent yet) some stuff wife got from supermarket. it's for cleaning ceramic hobs & boy does it do a good job of them! Gets all the crud off easily & leaves a nice shine (not that i do any kitchen work of-course)

Think i'll give it a go as i've got some stained windows at the back.

I think you'll find that you just covered them up. They will return a couple of years down the line. Rain-X & similar chemicals will also cover sucker marks on the big wall glass until it fades & gets re-applied.

bloody hell I was only trying to help and NO it does not damage the glass
in fact when we did them wfp the job seemed a lot easier and quicker and
my god did they shine and dry quick with mega mega results thats what we
saw anyway , as we all know this thicker limescale is almost impossible to get off

limescale is something you get down a bog, is it not, and there is any number of limescale removers on the supermarket shelves.
But be careful as it will prob be caustic or will turn the custies frames blue.LOL

       one thing I found when I was doing the inside of a swimming pool area where the kids splash the water on the glass partitions was thin bleach on a soft cloth. Just be careful and apply it sparingly and  , make sure you wear gloves and when you have got the limescale off squeegee or WFP off whichever is appropriate.
