Ive got a hose and reel from purefreedom, where ive been reeling it in the tip bit has started to get a bit dented and now wont connect to my ez snap connector, can i just buy the little bit i need or do i need a whole new tap, if so i was thinking of getting the reversed style tap with the ez snap connector on rather then having them on my pole.

handy to know this as i have the same hose set up.  would it not be a good idea when reeling in to wakl the hose up to van and place tap in van then reel hos ein so that it isn't dragging along ground?

YOu can walk the tap back but you then create the dreaded loop which seems to catch on everything.

My recommendation is not to have your control valve on the end of the microbore hose as this will always be damaged when reeling in.  How we have run our hoses for years is to have a female end stop on the end of the microbore reel (we also fit a protecta-ball these days) as shown below



then fit the more easily damaged male connector to the end of your pole hose (which doesn't get dragged along the ground) as shown below




To control the flow, I then fit a pole control valve about 1.5 metres up from the male hose connector of the type shown below



Works for me....

Ooh i like the idea of the push fit connection on the valve, the old olive and insert type gas valve takes precious time to fix on the fly.

I do this so that I can hold the valve (or a piece of hose just above it) in my hand whilst working and not have to hold the weight of the microbore off the ground.

Yes I have a pole valve on each of my poles.

Also Alex my last order was missing o rings, it stated these would follow on the sheet i recieved but still no show.

Then you just have connectors on the end of your poles rather than taps. It also means you can disconnect and/or change poles with out haveing water flowing all over the place.

Its also slightly cheeper as you have fewer components....

I thought my set up was simpler with less large connectors to catch and knock stuff, also with no water flowing all over the place.

The above valves are very compact and light only 13mm wide by about 45mm long.

Haven't read all the posts, so apologies if this has already been suggested.

I had the same problems after getting a setup with identical connectors. It was becoming really frustrating trying to force the connections together.

In the end all it took was a simple bit of filing. Just gently file away the burred edge of the male connector and it will slot into place no trouble at all. I've done this with a couple of mine and they seem to be lasting forever now in comparison to before.
