Mike you can speak for yourself  ::)

I definitely wouldn't no matter what the price, & believe me i've been in enough situations to know and it was for far more than £50.

Oh for gods sake.  I think that John made a decision on what to do and did it (big deal).  In some eyes it was the wrong thing to do and in others it was right.   Spar are also to blame in the incident.  They should not have given the notes back to John,  they should have informed the Police.  Im sure that all of you that think he was wrong have at some point broken the law ie,  been paid cash for a job & not declared it,  speeding,  given to much change in a shop and took it the list goes on & on.    At the end of the day all of these are breaking the law therefore should we all be banned from this forum?   Im not saying John did the right thing as he should have gone back to the customer to try & get it sorted first then the Police.

Richie.

John,

Personally I think you just hit rock bottom.
One minute your bleating on about having been stuck with a hundred quid in fakes notes and the next you are boasting about having passed them on to Mr Patel!
So it's ok for it to be Mr Patel's problem is it, but not yours. But what if Mr Patel works twice as hard as you and has ten times more problems that you do and needs that money ten times more than you do. What will he do with his hundred bent quid.
Well if he's got any brains he'll do what you should have done and phoned the police. And if the police have got anything about them they'll take a good look at Mr Patel's till roll and see who paid in cash and at what time and then check the time against the CCTV picture of you filling up your van and you handing over a hundred bent quid in payment. There isn't anywhere more stupid to have spent that bent money than at a petrol station brissling with CCTV cameras and number plate recognition gear.
What goes around comes around! Shame on you!

I never said that john should be banned from the forum, maybe we all do break the law as you suggest but we dont come on the forum asking for advice then go and do exactly the same thing to someone else. By passing these notes on knowing that they are fake is a serious offence, doing 40 mph in a 30mph zone isnt.
John why did you state that you had passed these notes on to Mr.Patel did you think because it was an asian it would be funny. Why didnt you just say that you had filled the van up at the fuel station and passed them on?
Its to be hoped that the joe public dont have access to this forum!

From the rozzers:

It is a crime to try to pass or possess a banknote that you either know or think to be counterfeit. If you inadvertently receive a note that you believe to be counterfeit, you should take it to the nearest police station.

Get of the moral high ground you sad people, i'll put money on it that you have all broken the law in someway at somepoint. He's made an error of judgement, have'nt we all at somepoint.

John, all you need to say is that you knew nothing of it and say where you got the notes from, The police wont report you to IR anyway, to much hasle for £100.

This is getting a bit silly , My local garage owner is not called Mr Patel ,  its a local garage that i have been using for the last 20 years of my life , when at the till in Spar I did not get them to scan every single note , after you lot correcting me in my ways I'm going to see my local garage owner first thing in the morning to make sure I have not passed on any fake money.

Richie   I don't believe how you can admit to taking a cash job and not declaring it

I think the point is john offered up his suggestion on an open forum as if it was

cool thing to do, and the result is many dont feel its good advice to break the

law and then boast about it, this guy at the garage is in business and has just

been ripped off !

i thought we were trying to be professional business men, a cut above the cowboys  ???

Hi Guys

I am going to lock this topic to save anyone else digging holes.

Those concerned know what they have to do.

Cheers
