Not quite Neil
I had a cleaning / grounds maintenance business which was started by accident, but took off very quickly giving me a net profit of over £2000 per week within 18 months ( that's about £6000 at todays rates ) Carpet cleaning was incorporated due to the many regular requests from our clients / likewise window cleaning .
I got bored and literally and foolishly gave away that business taking up some other interests as I had the money to just " play at work "
My interest in carpet cleaning was re awakened when a guy I knew was let down and desperately needed someone to help him out of a predicament. This involved working long and hard hours, but I only intended it to last a few months and actually enjoyed the physical work again.
My previous post referred to that period, although the rates were low, they were not bottom end and the self employed guys were left to their own devices.
There was no bait and switch, just lowish prices. Yes, it was a case of cleaning without the extras but clients got fantastic value for the money they paid. There were never any complaints and referrals were common.
What I was posting about was the fact that ..............running a business is about generating cash and this way of doing it was very successfull. No one was conned or short changed. It was simply a Budget type of operation which appealed to many and I'm sure, still would.
We never needed premises there were six advertising areas within a 150 mile circle the phone calls were diverted. The cleaners were Local to their area.
