its not so much the production companies, its the government putting high duties on fuel. for every £10:00 you put in the tank £8:00 goes to the government

I don't run a diesel car at the mo, but my next one will have to be as I need a more powerful car for towing the caravan, but don't want a bigger petrol motor as it has to be a work vehicle too.
The cost of fuel and running a vehicle in this country is scandalous, I'm all for another fuel tax protest, if 1 was organised I'd certainly go along and join. They're not finished yet either, its going up again in autumn, by xmas it'll be £12/gallon

Far less torque then diesel, also BHP is lower.

Is the lack of power compensated by the cheap cost and is lpg as economical as diesel?

You wait and see once all us blokes convert to LPG all of a sudden they`ll be some sort of gas shortage and the prats at westminster will jump on that bandwagon.

$135 a barrel, why should they produce more, produce less than the demand = higher prices.
We are being screwed by OPEC. They can afford to leave it in the ground knowing that the price can only get higher.
I can see the time coming, when the Yanks will want to go in and take their oil off them. Oh forgot, already tried that.

The 40p per mile option has worked well for me over the last four years, but the time is coming fast where I will have to switch back to claiming the actual expense.
When was that 40p mileage allowance last changed?

Doesn't matter what fuel we use they will screw the average motorist as much as possible .U r right lpg will be next, followed by bio diesel followed by electric vehicles. Both tory and labour will penalise the motorist every time

The 40p per mile option, is that the tax man will allow you 40p for every mile you do, and allow it against your tax. If you go for this option you can't claim any other vehicle expenses.
So' if you did 50 miles a day, the first £20 of your earnings are tax free.
If you ran an older small van, and it was reliable, you could be quids in if you did the mileage.
Unfortunately, the 40p per mile has not changed in years, whilst the cost of road tax, fuel etc has rocketed.

Might be worth a punt at making biodiesel for my local community (and gotta be grants / money from the governemtn to do so too I would imagine)
The profit on biodiesel if ya charge £0.95 a litre is huge!!!!!

Ask yourself this, in the the last 10 years how many times have you been stopped and had your tank dipped ??????????

You fills your tank you takes your chances and i aint going to lose any sleep over it.

i have a duel fuel 03 astra van, 20 quid of gas does about 330ish miles so its a hell of a lot cheaper to run than a diesel, its nealry a third of the price of diesel!!!

there is no difference in power at all when running on gas compared to petrol in my van its plenty powerfull enough, i'm never going to buy a diesel again my last diesel van was a load of poop ran it on bio diesel which cost 90p litre and i had no end of problems blocked filters knackered injectors made it run like crap from cold, had a cloud of smoke following the van all the time and it smelt like crap i was embarressed of it.

best thing i ever did was buy a lpg van, its far cheaper to run, more reliable and just soo much better!

did you buy the van pre-converted with the lpg or did you have it fitted yourself? if the latter how much did it cost? I have 2 lpg suppliers within a 5 mile radius of me.
