I’ve got 100mtr of Blue Algarde hose I want to try out and was wondering if it was ok to use a 100psi Shurflo pump with it and i do have a Varistream aswell.
I just want to know if there will be to much pressure for the pipe and make it bubble up in places.

Because its a silicon type hose rather than a true silicon it should hold its shape, we connected it up to Micks 100psi for part of the 88ft Sheffield job.
I have a custy who started to get problems with it bursting(which I have never known, but I only tend to use 40psi.Bbecause of the pressure after time and he changed back to Raindrip 4mm pvc which is also available in 100m. (he was using 33m) If it does bubble it will be nearest to the pump connection and will start to balloon and creep up the pipe. If so just cut the swollen bit off. You may have to cut the length back. Obviously once you cut it you cannot easily join it again.

I would defo use a bypass or the varistream but geting the blue dial to the right point may be tricky.

Its a small dia. and fluid friction creates a resistance, its down to you really as I dont know of anyone who has tried it at 100m, but it fits onto a reel great, make sure you unroll it properly by putting a spindle through the middle whilst your doing it,  then roll it back onto a reel to stop it twisting.

I use Algarde as a pole hose but I wouldn't want it as a main hose, it's far too sticky and would catch on everything. It's a nightmare when you get it tangled up in rose bushes.
I would stick to micro or mini bore for the main hose. Dai

Dai when you mix two diameters of hose on the same reel did you find the two can cross under each other and tangle inside the hose reel. Especially with changes of temprature and expansion/contraction.
Personally I hate connectors. I also use the elecy power trolley so 33m is more than enough as the trolley goes to the job but thats the old van versus trolley debate

What is likely to happen is that the pressure switch will be activated because of the resistance and you wont get any flow at that distance. The pumps will operate fine if you disconnect it and use a simple bypass. Water in should euqal water out so if its a say 4 litre per minute pump it sucks 4 litre and needs to expel 4 litre. You do this by putting a T or Y off the outlet with a tap on the water return to the tank thatwill allow you to reduce the flow  so that more or less can go to the brush.
I will also have a play with using 100m and the Flojet 100psi I have.

I don't have Algarde on a hose reel, I have about 10 metres on my back pack trolley, I wouldn't want any more. It will catch fast on a dandelion, and you just cant yank it off like you can with micro bore, it just stretches
rose thorns will puncture it, not a nice thing to happen if it's 30 metres from the pole, it's so rubbery it sticks on every thing.
A great pole hose yes, as a main hose no way.

Bazz, just trying to help. 50m and a flow of 1.6L , is ok but at 80 with a simple bypass the flow is about 1.2 Litre- (which is fine for me using only 1/2L/min)
May put too much strain on the pump, maybe ring the manuf, I know I will have too ask Flojet as its an interesting topic for some of us.

Jeff ive been thinking abit more about the idea and i think ill prob only use around 50mtr anyway after looking at my minibore hose reel i use less than half of it for my round so i think 50mtr will be fine for me.
My only worry is if i turn the water flow off at the pole and get chatting with a custy at the same time the pressure will build up in the pipe and cause a bubble some where before the Varistream stops the pump.
Also where do you get your jets from as the B&Qs around here are crap.

Look for a really good gardeners shop they may have Hozelock(sods law would give you Gardenia though-(no good 5mm hose and fittings)  micro irrigation in stock or get it in to order, or off tinternet. I use the green jets and twist the black caps off I quite like them ott, they have a conical vortex chamber inside which gives a really precise jet. About £5 for 8 jets.
Maybe try a tiny external bypass and micro tap with a low flow of say 50-100ml/min. But it should take the pressure- I will try it at weekend I have loads of bits of it, it will only bubble by the pump.

Jeff… Ive been using 50 mtr of it over the weekend and bank holiday and ive had no problems at all apart from the pipe keeps popping off on the little plastic flow valve I put on so now all I do is bend the pipe if I want to stop the flow unless you know a better way.

Dia… your right the Algarde tube sticks to everything but I still find it better than my Minibore with my new poles.
The only thing I don’t like is the hose outside the pole I cant get on with it so im going to change that in the morning but over all 100% Algarde for me ….
