£250 is the basic of basic services on them,don`t get sucked in by thinking there cheap to run there not.And the 40mpg is stretching it a bit to,even the salesman i spoke to said there juicy.

Personally- All my best cars have been VW if you get them main dealer serviced then it can be expensive however, you don't have to get them serviced there, all that would be missing was the service stamp. It might effect the resale value but if you were planning on keeping it a while would you be looking for a top return anyway? A VW might be best to take a risk on as they are usually bombproof and the build quality is top notch. There are other makes I would take no such risk on.

Maybe but apart from the rust guarantee all the warranties have expired in a transporter this age haven't they?

This is true but what is your opinion of them as a second hand buy?

It`s always a good sign when you see vans still on the road after 10 years or so in large volume and there`s plenty of transporters still about.

don't think they are budging on price. Van is cheap as it stands just now. I am trying to negotiate possibly the timing belts getting done.

van is 88bhp model with TDI (blue i on the end i assume this is intercooler model?)

they are doing the brakes and oil & filter change it seems only.

the tax for my 2.5 tdi transporter (ex AA) is £210 for 12 months.  MPG is about 40.  Unless you wear heavy boots.  It tends to be a tad less then

no its not got an intercooler the 102 gets a intercooler i would say at best you may get 30 - 35 mpg out of it i would say i average at about 32.

ok still not had a test drive of this as they have ben busy in workshop etc and wating on parts for it.

i can pick this up for 5250 approx nothing better

book is only missing 1 service stamp from what i see. Also the onlky thing putting me off this is that i had a drive of a dispatch and liked the size of the van and would suit a one man opertaion more than the VW. Till i get a test drive of van I still haven't made a decison.

also noticed it may have ha dpaint on wheel arches slightly
