LDV CUB???
« on: May 10, 2008, 02:09:47 am »
i'm looking at long last to buying a van and a LDV CUB has caught my eye. its quite tatty inside but looks good from out side. done 83,000 miles and the chap's only asking £1,595 for it.

ive looked on the 'what van web site and it says these are basicly nissan vannets whith a diffrent badge.

dose any one use one of these for wfp? are they any good? should the fact they stopped manerfacturing them in 2002 put me off? the pay load is 955 is that good or bad?

i'm asking on here because im pants with vecheals and dont know any one who knows about them.

thanks for any advice you can give.

payload of what you say depends on what amount of water you need each day, post this and you get alot more replies m8, i would say 500 max anymore would be pushing it as fuel, people weight extra bit soon mounts up.

to be honest ive not an igloo as to how much h20 i'll need per day as i trad 100% at mo. i'm looking to ease in to wfp with a trolley but dont see the point in getting too smaller van if i'll be converting more and more work to wfp adventurly.

also i'll need a bit of roof space to fit me BIG ladders on it. i used to carry them on a belingo but they didnt half stick out a lot. looked well out of place!

if you work on your own 500plus ltr tank min imo (others say different) but some earn more than others, and they will agree with what i am saying.

I know what you are saying when going into it, I personally had a 650l tank fitted for 2 men(I wanted 800)  i have run out once with 2 never on my own, but on my own i have done 500l hence why i say 500l plus.

better to have to much than not enough as it will cost you lot of lost money if you dont get it right.

You are more than welcome to call me my numbers on on the home page of my site i have spoken to loads of guys on here about this.

good luck m8 and stick with it, scary it is, but long term benifits are far better and is a good business step again IMO  ;)

I have the cub and the vanette, both 2.3d i have a 450ltr pro 5 in the vanette poles etc and it has no problems, the cub being bigger will  carry 600ltrs. I average about 30miles to the gallon and thats around town in traffic etc. A good work tool engine is solid and its not overly big so usefull for domestic work, the only thing is being mid engined and the weight in the back the front tyres tend to wear quicker on the inside.
