Hi all,

I will be getting a lease van in the next few weeks and was told a temporary  vinyl wrap will be no good as the glue can effect the paint work and as it has to go back after 2 years I dont want to foot a bill for a new paint job!

The guy reckons a magnet sign will be my best bet. What do you guys recommend? Cheers

Could be good but I had some a few years back and they blew off the side of the vehicle .....need a good magnet.

Not sure what a temporary vinyl wrap is, I had a conventional wrap on my Transit, peeled it off after 2 years and the van was like new underneath!

Im with Dave on this one,  The paintwork under the vynil will be like new as it has no everyday dirt or sunlight on it.  The vynil is easy to remove but the glue can at times be hard work.   Why can you only keep the van 2 years?  Try for 4 years.

I am just removing some on the van that we bought, you simply pour boiling water over the wrap and pull it off. Expensive if you are getting rid of the van in a couple of years though.

I think the glue WAS the problem with the wrap.

The van was in a 2 year deal only.

I was driving around an estate today and a building firm had a huge sign up leaning against a lamp post advertising their company. Where would I get something like that printed up?

The signwriting is easy to get off with a hairdryer. It just peels off when heated.

Signwriting = possible glue problems

Wrap    =   No glue problems

One more thing, make sure the wrap has been laminated, some sign writers will apply a nice digital wrap that will wear off, a clear laminate on top protects the digital print.

Skywalker, mine was done by astsigns.com they do all Eddie Stobarts Trucks and are based in Penrith so not a bad trip for you

Do you have to design it yourself or do they have ready-done templates? Obviously I know what wording i would like but what about pictures?

They will design it for you, they have templates for all vans. The cost varies as to the complexity and also the size of the van as the vinyl is very expensive so something like a lwb Sprinter is likely to be 3xthe cost of something like a Vauxhall combo. The design can incorporate any pictures you want to use but bear in mind they'll have to be very high quality to have sufficient definition at that size

just get an heat gun gently warm and peel off ,then t cut edges and you will never know you had any stickers on .
dont bother with the magnetic ones.

not ture as if they have been on for some time you can always tell its had stickers on the van due to the rest of the paint fadeing apart from where the stickers as been

even power polishing the van with g,3, will only help and to the trained eye ull never hide new paint agains old
