I'm pretty sure the filters that brodex use are GAC (granular activated carbon)

chances are the rust blobs are iron deposits from your water, however, if its on the outside of the carbon filter then its unlikely to have made it through the carbon filter and into the membrane.

I wouldn't worry too much but would say to you to give brodex and ring and see if they know whats happened.

edd - do you get easily annoyed about things?

just kidding, but no it must be iron deposits or something similar.  I wouldn't worry, look on the bright side, I have to do a full service on both our systems this week sometime.

Wiring, plumbing, checking floor of vans for damage etc, blah blah blah - I know if it ain't broke, don't fix it but I like to keep an eye on everything.

no I dont get peed off easily really ...... but this has not happened before only on the Brodex filters
I am using the chlor plus filters now ........a much better made filter altogether and makes my drinking water
taste so much better , because it does get rid of most of the chlorine which you do not want in the ro
