Re: Give up on my RO

Strange isn't it, I have a small 200 gallon R/O, input TDS approx 0.150 ppm, output from R/O 0.002 ppm. and then 0.000 ppm after resin.
The current membranes (2 of them)  are about a year old, prefilters around 6 months old and it takes about 30 hours to produce a 1000 litres at a tap pressure of  85 psi, and that is enough to keep two people supplied with pure water (me & squeaky).

So for me I see no reason to buy a 4040 R/O...but if my R/O was only bringing my output water down to something like 0.045 ppm I'd certainly be considering it.

What is the tap water TDS?
Correctly pressured, your R/O should be able to reduce the TDS by at least 95%

Ian
30 hours to make 1000l that seems a very long time to make so little water, and why is squeaky using your water does he not have his own system :-\
that shocks me TBH

your outlet tds is far too high, even at 24ppm!

I would have a word with Andrew McCann @ freedom, I'm sure he will get it sorted for you.

My advice - don't mess around with little ro units - buy something bigger like a merlin or 4040, the extra expense will pay for itself time and time again.
I agreee with the messing about, upgrades etc just get a 4040 and get the water fast without the hassles of a baby ro

Did you manage to sort your 4040 problem out Ian?

If you get one of those clarke booster pumps can you connect it via garden hose?

my water is connected to the same pipe as my outside garden type not actuly by the tap connector its stright from the water pipe.

Window Washes how many litres per hour does yours produce? because your tap TDS is around the same as mine also do you have a booster pump?

my tap TDS is around 400 ish at the moment.

yes it goes from the RO into a pressure vessel because am using a trolley so when it goes into the tank its 0.00tds

Dont bother with a Merlin at that level of TDS, it will only get your water down to 10% (looking at 40 TDS product water) so you still need a major resin polish after that.

foxman can i ask why you will need a resin polish after the merlin ??????merlins are sold by you or window cleaning warehouse and theres nothing in your catalouge to say this ... iwas just thinking about buying a merlin but as my tap at the moment is 435 it would look like i need to spend more money on a di .
where theres muck theres money

I don't think you can actually see when you need to change it ie. colour change, but rather a drop in pressure.

My pressure has just dropped from 60 to 40. I keep nicking water off my mate as his system does something like 2.5 liters a minute. Mine does about .5 a week or something. No honestly, I bought mine for the backpack but now I have a tank I need something bigger and now my pressure has dropped I'm still pinching stuff off him until I decide if I'm to buy a bigger filter system or just change my membrane and pre filters. I've just changed my DI as the tds was creeping up.
