Rinsing on glass at high heights.
« on: April 07, 2008, 08:23:45 pm »
Hi,

I have some big jobs coming up over the next few months which need a bigger pole.

I just wondering its obv very hard to lift the brush of every single pain of claste at around 35-40 ft so whats the proper way to rinse with the brush on the glass? i have never tried so any instructions would be great.

Thanks Dave
Dave.

Dave i rinse on at 12ft let alone 40ft,scrub a bit more than normal and have a good flow of water i would go for half again on what you normally use at that height, athough when working a lower levels i use more water but don`t need to go silly so it`s bouncing off the glass. When you get used to rinsing on it`s just like colouring in the window`s,why lift off all the time when theres no need mate save your back and get done quicker.

There is a type of brush, or goosneck and brush, you might consider getting a pole with this allready? but it has an overhead fan spray, so the brush doesnt have to come off the glass, it rinses overhead while your cleaning. Look up Stream water fed poles on google, they do them too. Youl see a pict of one working on the banner.

But with a brush like that you end up spraying water over the top edge of a window and probably over the vents

Forget those poles with that overhead assembly on,the brush an gooseneck weighs more than some poles and like you say they spray up and above the window.

You're refering to the aluminium poles on ebay & Tucker dual hose with overhead fan jet. Trouble using a fan jet over the brush head for rinsing, especially on windy days is that the water goes everywhere, ie. hitting the stonework/brickwork above the windows which causes dirt to drip onto the glass after it's dried leaving dirty windows.

Better to rinse through the brush itself. Use a mono brush preferably dual trim... will not trap the dirt in the bristles and will reach around the window frames better.

There's no reason to rinse brush off at any height. Rinsing brush on with plenty of water and a good technique, ensuring you pay plenty of attention to thoroughly washing the top of the window frame, then allowing the water to cascade down the glass whilst you bring the brush down with it will leave the window clean without leaving grains of dirt left on the glass.

4 pencil jets aimed ott at the top row of monofilament bristles, alter the pole angle slightly or press gently and the water goes into the bristles so no overspray. Rinse over or through. 500ml/min or more or less.

Why do you have a handlebar end on your pole ??

That's so he can mount a mini camera on his pole, burn it onto CD and give his customers a 'you've been framed', 'candid camera' CD to replay on their computers, lol
