hello everyone,seeking some advice re hot water.was just talking with a plumber as i cleaned his house and i mentioned hot water would be handy but a load of money to change over.he said, it does nt have to be,just stick an immersion heater in it. now it can t be as simple as that,although i don t need it on all day,just to heat the water and then use it as i need it. i m using about 700 ltrs a day.by the way i have an ionics pro 5 and also i won t have a bodge job done,but if anyone knows if it s possible could you let me know.   cheers mick

I stuck an immersion heater in my static ibc.  Posted it on here a while back and it works fine.  By the end of the day the water has cooled down though, all though it's still probably warmer than it would have been.

Problems you will have with it in the van is power, you will need to give it 240V with a lot of juice, it will draw at about 13amps as well.  You would also have to make sure that the element never got dry when it was on as well.

thanks simon,was thinking it was possible to run from van battery,but only switch it on while engine running.as you can tell i no absolutly nothing about electric and i m not very handy,but if it s possible i ll know a man who can.  cheers mick

have you thought about using the lpg on demand heaters that nat & mr sol  are using. they are seperate from your system so you wont have to do any bodging on your pro 5

The immersion heater is a very good and cheap way to get a feel for hot wfp. If you decide you like it, then go for the on demand heater.

thanks lads,i did nt want to go down the lpg roadyet,just seems like a lot of trouble if i only use hot as needed,but might investigate cost and maintainance in case we think it s the way forward.once again thanks for advice and if you think of anything else please let me know.   cheers mick
