well i think im set on a merc vito now...lol i think, but i would like a crew cab in the back, so my question is, is it ok to have the tank at the back of the van?or does it need to be in the middle distributing the weight evenly?

Depends on the weight of the tank/water.

Each axle will have a max payload. You need to find out what that is.

If you do overload one axle the law treats it exactly the same as being completely overloaded.

You do need to have the weight evenly distributed.

Find out what the maximum weight for your rear axle is and if you only want a 400 litre tank you may be fine. What I would go for is a custom built tank that covered the whole floor area, you could then use the area on top of it for storage etc and it would ensure even weight distribution.

thing is i want at least 650 tank. you custom make them dont you alex?

You'd need to check the loading limits but I reckon if you had the 650 litre tank mounted immediately behind the second row of seats, you may be within your axle limits.  Yes, we do have custom tanks made for clients.  The great advantage of them is that it allows you to have a tank that fits the exact space and can be made to hold buckets, pumps and various other components.  The downside is they are more expensive, so if you can easily fit a standard tank in, then it's worth doing.

Have you thought about a VW Transporter as they have a galvanised body which is ideal for our profession.
